Is there a method to change the format of our username? e.g. Instead of Brianwreaves, brianWreaves as that is easier to read first-name from last-name.

The first letter of a username is always capitalized for technical reasons, but there are ways to get it displayed as lowercase. You would have to customize your signature and/or use the {{displaytitle}} template on your user and user talk pages to make that cosmetic change. Changing the capitalization of another letter (or adding a space to make it "Brian Wreaves") is more than a cosmetic change and requires the account to be renamed; you can request a change of username via Special:GlobalRenameRequest.
