I just want to say "nice work" getting a page up for Nick Willis. Not sure if you saw my reply to your message on my talk page, so I've put it below :)

Thanks for putting the page up. It was good to hear Nick acknowledge his faith and the prayers of support. Googled up this page from August, http://www.2kplus.org.uk/cherald/cherald050822.php which includes this - He told a captivated audience how his faith helped him cope with disappointment and shared one of his favourite Bible passages, from Isaiah 41. "This is the one that I really rely on for my inspiration," he said, "when I'm really tired in the morning and I have to get up and run 20 kilometres, 30 kilometres in my training every day. When I'm tired and I'm weak and I'm really struggling to find an energy source I just refer to this verse and it really lifts me up: 'He gives power to those who are tired and worn out. He offers strength to those who are weak. Even though youths will become exhausted and young men will give up, those who wait on the Lord will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.' Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #1

Reach out Reach out is a program aimed at allowing users to bring issues that they have had in Wikipedia to a listening, sympathetic and caring audience: "No one can know how we feel if we do not say. We cannot expect to get understanding if we do not ask for it. No one will dispute that sometimes life's issues are too much for one person. It is fair to say that sometimes Wikipedia's problems fall under the same heading. This is a place where you can bring the bruises that can sometimes be got on this project for attention." Stress Alerts The Stress alerts program aims at identifying users who are stressed, alerting the community of thier stress and works in tandem with the Stressbusters at trying to identify causes of stress and eliminating them. Note from the editor Welcome to this new format of the Esperanza Newsletter, which came about during the last Advisory Council meeting - we hope you like it! The major changes are that each month, right after the Council meeting, this will be sent out and will include two featured programs and a sum up of the meeting. Also, it will be signed by all of the Advisory Council members, not just Celestianpower. Have an Esperanzial end of March, everyone!

The last AC meeting (full log) Future meetings are to be held monthly, not fortnightly as before. Bans and Access level changes (apart from autovoice) in the IRC channel are to be reported at the new log. In the IRC channel, there is going to be only one bot at a time. The charter requires members to have 150 edits and 2 weeks editing. Why this is the case will be clarified. A new Code of Conduct will be drafted by JoanneB and proposed to the Esperanza community. The NPA reform idea is to be dropped officially. Charter ammendments are to be discussed in future, not voted on. The Advisory Council is not going to be proposed to be expanded by the Advisory Council themselves, if others want to propose it, they will listen. Signed... Barnstar Brigade The Barnstar Brigade is a new program aimed at giving more very deserving yet unappreciated users barnstars. It will officially start on 2006-04-09, but signing up is encouraged before this date: "Here in Wikipedia, there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go un-appreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go un-noticed. Sadly, these editors often leave the project. As Esperanzians, we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. A project the size of Wikipedia has thousands of editors, so there are plenty of people out there who deserve recognition, one just has to find them. The object of this program is not to flood editors with Barnstars, but to seek out people who deserve them, and make them feel appreciated." NZSL not yet official language

The reason NZSL has been taken out of the infobox is that it actually is not an official language until the recent bill receives Royal Assent, and this apparently has not happened yet. See Talk:New_Zealand_Sign_Language#Not_official for a discussion. -- Avenue 01:30, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

VandalProof 1.1 is Now Available For Download

Happy Easter to all of you, and I hope that this version may fix your current problems and perhaps provide you with a few useful new tools. You can download version 1.1 at User:AmiDaniel/VandalProof. Let me warn you, however, to please be extremely careful when using the new Rollback All Contributions feature, as, aside from the excessive server lag it would cause if everyone began using it at once, it could seriously aggitate several editors to have their contributions reverted. If you would like to experiment with it, though, I'd be more than happy to use my many sockpuppets to create some "vandalism" for you to revert. If you have any problems downloading, installing, or otherwise, please tell me about them at User:AmiDaniel/VP/Bugs and I will do my best to help you. Thanks. NZ chapter

Absolutely. Count me in. I was thinking of organizing a meetup here in Auckland, but slacker that I am, I haven't got around to it yet. Do you think that that would be useful for getting things moving? GeorgeStepanek\^talk 08:56, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

My plan for the meetup was to simply to announce a date and a location, and then just see who turned up! I was thinking of meeting around twelve noon on a Sunday in a pub or cafe, where we can get a meal and some drinks. If it's going well then the discussion could continue all afternoon. And if no-one showed up, then I'd at least have a meal out with my girlfriend!

Any Sunday would be good, as long as it's not a bank holiday weekend, and people have a couple of weeks notice. I feel that trying to get agreement on a specific date is would be difficult to impossible: in today's busy society there will be always be someone who can't make it.

I picked twelve noon so that those who wanted to could go to church, and those who didn't could sleep in. :) For the location I was thinking of an Auckland suburb close enough in to be central, but far enough out to have plenty of free parking. Ellerslie perhaps? I realise that Auckland is not central to the country as a whole, but at least three times as many people will be local as compared to any other city in New Zealand.

And as for the mailing list and irc channel, well, I'm not big on those, sorry—I don't even have an irc client installed—so I probably wouldn't join in. (But don't let that stop you!) I'm just happy discussing things in a wiki way.
