The article Arbinet has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group or service and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki (talk) 18:06, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Arbinet, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.arbinet.com/page.php?cid=1. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 18:08, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Arbinet requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. February 2010[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Arbinet, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. ALI nom nom 18:11, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

August 2010[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Data Foundry. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Also, please read these guidelines - WP:V and WP:RS. Your article NEEDS more sources in it, not just what it has now. There is plenty of significant third-party coverage of this company, it just needs to be added to the article for it to be properly sourced, which at this point it is not. Whose Your Guy (talk) 19:43, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Data Foundry, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. You need to add third-party sources that have significant coverage of this company, as well as sources to the statements about them building new facilities. Failure to do so may mean someone else will nominate the article for deletion as there are not enough sources to help establish the notability of this company. Once there are enough third-party sources and references added then (and only then) can the maintenance templates be taken off. I realize that you are a new editor, but I am trying to help you out, so please heed my advice in adding more sources to the article. Whose Your Guy (talk) 13:28, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am not concerned with similar articles and how they are sourced. The focus is on this article and trying to improve the sourcing on it. It's not that the sources on it now are unacceptable, it's just that the article needs third party sources that offer significant coverage in order to establish the notability of the company. Although this is standard practice here, sometimes it is not always followed (as your Equinix example) so some happen to fall through the cracks. I (and possibly others) will try to help you improve the sourcing on the article, but you need to include whatever external sources you can (that is - sources that aren't related to Data Foundry) that confirm some statements made in the article, and you also need to leave the maintenance templates in place until the sources are improved, please. Leaving them on alerts other editors that the article needs improvement. Not allowing them to remain is taking a chance that the article could get deleted from the encyclopedia. Whose Your Guy (talk) 15:08, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

Hello, Brecken500, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question. Again, welcome! • I hope this welcome message has some useful links to it. Especially Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources and Wikipedia:Verifiability are relevant in the context of Data Foundry--and please do not remove the template I replaced on the article unless independent reliable sources back up the statements in the article. It may seem like a minor point to you at this time, but such verification by independent sources is of the utmost importance to an encyclopedia. Once again, welcome, thank you for your contribution, and drop me or the above editor a line if you have any questions. Thanks. Drmies (talk) 13:01, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

GFI[edit]

Okay, it's in your userspace. I'll give you ten days or so to clean it up.

A hint - consider imagine that the article will be read by one of GF's competitors. Will this competitor grudgingly say "yeah, okay, I guess that's all true and it's not too much of a puff piece"?

When you think it's ready, let me know and I'll tell you if you're right or if it still needs work. If you're right, I'll move it into mainspace for you. DS (talk) 14:16, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Global Telecom & Technology has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Advert for unnotable "solution" provider

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A tag has been placed on Arbinet, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
  • It appears to be a clear copyright infringement. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

However, even if you use one of these processes to release copyrighted material to Wikipedia, it still needs to comply with the other policies and guidelines to be eligible for inclusion. If you would like any assistance with this, you can ask a question at the help desk.

  • It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay.
