Welcome!
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. We as a community are glad to have you and thank you for creating a user account! Here are a few good links for newcomers:
- The Five Pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Editing, policy, conduct, and structure tutorial
- Picture tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Naming conventions
- Manual of Style
- Merging, redirecting, and renaming pages

Yes some of the links appear a bit boring at first, but they are VERY helpful if you ever take the time to read them.
Remember to place any articles you create into a category so we don't get orphans.
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, please be sure to sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes (~~~) for just your name. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome.

[edit]Hi, the article List of school pranks has been targeted by the Wikipedia Thought Police™. Please help preserve this marvellous testament to human inventiveness—and cruelty—from certain extinction by voting Keep at the article's deletion page if you haven't already done so. May algid reason never reign supreme! Thanks, Maikel 15:24, 4 April 2006 (UTC) PS: This is a generic message that has been hand-posted to you as a former contributor—hope you won't mind.

[edit]Please don't add a section with a note to fill it in, nor add a blank section. You should only add a new section if you already have the information to fill it in. Article discussion goes on the talk page, not on the article page itself. RainbowOfLight Talk 06:34, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
Tidal flow
[edit]Hi Bob. I have reverted your edit to tidal flow, because tidal flow refers to tides. Traffic engineers use the term as an analogy. They think of traffic streams as moving like a tide. But it is quite incorrect to then define a tidal flow in terms of traffic engineering. If you want to resolve your redirect "conflict", then I suggest you reinstate your version ( it is still there in the history) but title it "Tidal flow (traffic)". --Geronimo20 (talk) --11:41, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
- I adjusted Tide (disambiguation) to reflect Tidal flow (traffic), as you suggested. --Geronimo20 (talk) 19:45, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Kangxi Emperor
[edit]Hi Bob. In response to your message on my talk page: yes, sure, no problem! I thought your edit on the treasury was very useful. When I undid your second edit, I had spent most of the day correcting mistakes on other pages, so I guess I lumped this very minor one (1661 vs. 1662) with all the others. Sorry about that. Please keep contributing to the pages on Chinese history: they need a lot of work! --Madalibi (talk) 12:39, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
- Hi again. I tried to make the edit you requested, but I figured it was easier to explain the dates 1661 and 1662 at the very beginning of the article. Let me know if you're satisfied with the new edit. Cheers, --Madalibi (talk) 13:08, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
Another good edit to the "Treasury" section. Thanks! I just read the entire Kangxi article and realized how messy it is. I hope someone will take care of its structure one day. I've already done some work on many Qing emperors in my sandboxes. If you're interested, take a look at my user page. "See" you around! --Madalibi (talk) 14:38, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
[edit]Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:02, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
The article Mushroom sauce has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- This is a dictionary definition as well as a tautology (mushroom sauce is a sauce made with mushrooms).
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. HominidMachinae (talk) 08:05, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
