Edward C Moore

Thank you for helping me with this. I have just added all of the sourced material on Edward C.Moore to Edward Chandler Moore, gracefully, I think. And a good upgrade if I do say so myself since the older page was virtually unsourced. I have left the page I created blank. My question is, how do I complete the merge so as to keep "Edward C.Moore" as a search term?NotButtigieg (talk) 05:54, 2 January 2020 (UTC)

NotButtigieg, great. Very glad that you were able to do that right away–as I said your article was well-organised and merging articles when multiple editors have made substantial contributions can get complicated! What I've done now you've emptied out the article is converted it into a redirect to the older article. I saw your comment that you think Edward C. Moore is perhaps the more commonly used name, and you can suggest that the article be renamed if you want. Blythwood (talk) 06:00, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
But only because you were so very gracious about my error. Thank you.NotButtigieg (talk) 06:05, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
  • Hmmmm. I tried to move the page to Edward C. Moore, the name used by the Met and other museums, and in scholarly articles about him. But I got a message telling me that page Edward C. Moore already exists.NotButtigieg (talk) 06:10, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
NotButtigieg, sure, that's because there's a page already there (it redirects to Edward Caldwell Moore). As there's two articles involved whose editors might have a standpoint on this, it's not an action you can just do, as I said you'd need to open a consultation before a move. But I don't think it's essential to move it right now–when you type "Edward C. Moore" into the search bar you get pointed to Edward C. Moore (silversmith) as the second option–it's not impossible to discover, and there's a hatnote on the Edward Caldwell Moore page directing you to a disambiguation page. Some obvious ways to raise awareness of the article would be to link to it from the Tiffany's page and the MMoA page–he's not mentioned on either right now.
