Yi qi blurb

Why did you switch it back to 'membraneous wings'? Consensus (including the nom) was for gliding. Abductive (reasoning) 16:11, 1 May 2015 (UTC)

  • which was false, per the article. Black Kite (talk) 17:31, 1 May 2015 (UTC)
    • No, the article was wrong. I have corrected it. These guys couldn't flap. "No evidence presented so far, he added, showed that Yi qi had the ability for powered flight." Abductive (reasoning) 19:13, 1 May 2015 (UTC)
      • Yes, but the original blurb was wrong because it claimed this was the first dinosaur capable of gliding flight, which is incorrect. Also "We don’t know if Yi qi was flapping or gliding, or both" from your link. The only thing we know as far as I can see is that it has such wings. Please correct me if I am wrong. Black Kite (talk) 19:17, 1 May 2015 (UTC)
        • This whole thing is messed up. Was there another dinosaur with flight of any kind before Yi qi? Abductive (reasoning) 22:08, 1 May 2015 (UTC)
          • Why do you say it was not the first dinosaur capable of gliding flight? Abductive (reasoning) 23:51, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
            • The articles have changed a lot in the last week, but looking at them now the blurb should properly say that it's not proven; based on Yi qi, it is surmised that the other members of Scansoriopterygidae were also gliders, and they were contemporaneous if not earlier. Black Kite (talk) 09:06, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
              • But it was the discovery of Yi qi that caused the revision to the Scansoriopterygidae article. Scientific discoveries are like that; especially in paleontology the there is always an older example out there, undiscovered. This is why I argue at ITN for blurbs to say things such as "pushes back the date" when other people want to say "the oldest". The newsworthy part is the discovery/publication. Abductive (reasoning) 18:11, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

Yet more problems with my edit summaries

Hi. You won't remember but you blocked me around twelve months ago for the (many many times fully earned) things I said about a certain editor. The only solution is for me to attract as much attention as possible. I'll keep doing it (the hopefully very insulting edit summaries) while Samblob's behaviour is the way it is. So Please get ready to block me again. Eddaido (talk) 03:53, 6 May 2015 (UTC)

That was a no-consensus at worst, not a delete. I think you have made the wrong decision there. Philafrenzy (talk) 00:57, 8 May 2015 (UTC)

Rangeblock request

Remember the rangeblock you did for me the other day? This should jog your memory. I wonder if he's now evading under named account Yaw Ihle Amankwah1 (talk · contribs) - similar MO but not enough edits to be 100% sure re:DUCK...any thoughts @Struway2:? GiantSnowman 12:43, 9 May 2015 (UTC)

I would say so. The first page this user edited has been edited previously by eight different 74.105 anons, often as their first target in a session. The written English is similar, as well, on the few occasions they include prose: compare the named editor here with an anon here. Neither piece of content is true, either. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:00, 9 May 2015 (UTC)
Good enough for me - I've blocked the named account and moved all the IPs you'd noted to Category:Suspected Wikipedia sockpuppets of Yaw Ihle Amankwah1 GiantSnowman 14:46, 9 May 2015 (UTC)

Lightbreather arbitration case: special arangements

Because of the unusual number of participants with interaction bans in the Lightbreather arbitration case, the consensus of the Arbitration Committee is that:

1. All i-bans and associated restrictions are suspended for participation on the /Evidence page. This suspension extends solely and exclusively to the /Evidence page but some tolerance will be given on the /Evidence talk page to link to material on the /Evidence page.

2. For simplicity, and for the purposes of this case only, one-way i-bans are regarded as two-way i-bans.

3. Threaded interactions of any description between participants are prohibited on both the /Evidence and the /Evidence talk pages.

4. Similar arrangements apply to /Workshop page and the /Workshop talk page.

The original announcement can be found here. For the Arbitration Committee, --L235 (t / c / ping in reply) via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 12:40, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

Question about your deletion of Endless Forms Most Beautiful World Tour

Sorry, newbie here. This post may or may not with the right format. I am just confused about your deletion of the wikipedia page Endless Forms Most Beautiful World Tour The link can still be found at Nightwish. I personally don't think the deletion is a right decision because 1. there were abundant useful information on that page worth to be archived. 2. Nightwish as a famous band has a series of successful world tour drawn massive attention. The deletion of this specific tour made the information incomplete. Other tours still have full archived information on Wikipedia. Again I am just trying to find a place to express my opinion. This place is the only place I found possible to communicate with you. It may or may not be in the right place or with the right format. Sorry if it's not. 76.21.2.238 (talk) 19:48, 16 May 2015 (UTC) -->

IP blocked

Hello. I was blocked at my ip at school and i want to know why that was necessary for the ban. The IP was never blocked at my school before.

  • Hi, can you let me know what the IP address is please? It should appear on the block message. We do block a number of IP addresses due to vandalism and other problems so if I have the IP I can take a look at it. Thanks, Black Kite (talk) 13:09, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
  • this is the ip: 195.99.198.242 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gibboboy777 (talkcontribs) 10:08, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
    • Hi, the address was blocked in 2014 after persistent vandalism immediately after the previous block ran out. However, since it has been blocked for a year, I have unblocked it to see what happens. Should more vandalism appear from this establishment, I will have to re-instate the block. ANI - abuse of revision delete claims by ____

Hi Black_Kite, I saw a blocked IP add this [1] to a discussion you had already closed. I got a little over-eager and removed it, but on second thought felt it was better to put it outside the closed discussion and let you know about it. No objection to re-removing it from me, I just didn't feel comfortable being the one to do it. ― Padenton|   19:04, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

"Edit War" Homosexuality and Roman Catholicism

An "edit war" requires two parties or more, yes? There never was a desire or intent on my part to engage an "edit war" as I stated in Talk. There were attempts on my part to collaborate yet this was met with "hard core" wholesale revert edits without any attempt to offer compromise to a legitimate RS citation and concise quote of a primary source that is wholly relevant to that paragraph which offers readers comprehensive context in a concise fashion.

What is apparently taking place is an arbitrary and subjective application of the guidelines and policy regarding a lead in attempts to steer, dominate and own an Article. The edit and Talk history speaks to this for the most part. Look forward to working with you and others.Integrityandhonesty (talk) 13:12, 24 May 2015 (UTC)

  • When you keep inserting something that is reverted by multiple parties, it is time to gain consensus on the talk page for that material to be inserted. I don't see that you have done that. If you can gain such consensus, then all is good. Black Kite (talk) 16:57, 24 May 2015 (UTC)

Request Another Look at Robert L. Gordon IV

There is a discussion concerning possible sock-puppetry at Robert L. Gordon IV, which is now only a redirect to America's Promise. However, America's Promise does not refer to anyone named Robert L. Gordon IV. I tried to enter an RFD nomination for the redirect, but the redirect page is locked. It appears that you fully protected it, presumably to salt it against re-creation by sock-puppets. If it is necessary to keep it locked, can you please then nominate it for deletion (and possibly for real salting)? Thank you.

G10 Speedy delete

You way over stepped by speedy deleting the Celebirty nude photo leaks article under G10. I suggest you restore it and let it go to AfD. GraniteSand (talk) 00:58, 5 June 2015 (UTC)

  • No. It included links to websites hosting stolen images, as well as being, frankly, non-notable (the information is covered elsewhere, there's a whole article about the 2014 leaks for instance, the remaining ones fail LISTN). Let it go to DRV by all means. Black Kite (talk) 01:01, 5 June 2015 (UTC)

Patrick McCauley

Why was Patrick McCauley deleted as "non-notable" when he clearly met the test for journalists? Can I see the comments made. I was not notified that the article was under deletion. Billy Hathorn (talk) 03:01, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

  • There were no comments, it was a PROD delete. The PROD notice said "non-notable journalist, if challenged will send to AFD". As a PROD delete there is of course no problem with you re-creating it so it can go to AfD, let me know if you want the deleted content (or if you want I'll just restore and AfD it myself). Black Kite (talk) 09:56, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for helping to clarify the status of this file. I only brought it to NFCR because it was uploaded as non-free and assumed the uploader had chosen the correct license. After reading your close and the comment left by Cryptic, I am wondering if File:G1 Group.jpg should also be tagged with {{PD-textlogo}} and {{Trademark}} for similar reasons. Thanks in advance. - Marchjuly (talk) 02:50, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

  • Yes, it's exactly the same - nowhere near the TOI. Black Kite (talk) 07:06, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for the clarification. Should it be tagged like the other file? I occasionally come across other logos such as these. Would it be appropriate to tag them as well or should they be discussed first? - Marchjuly (talk) 07:30, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
If they're really clear (i.e. very obviously only consist of standard text and/or very simple shapes), then just tag them. If you're not sure, then drop them into NFCR like this one was. There are some that end up being very borderline. Black Kite (talk) 08:15, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
Understood. Thanks again. - Marchjuly (talk) 08:18, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

Favor Please

While I have been editing for awhile I am still not as familiar with all the intricacies of Wikipedia. I was wanting to start an article on J.J. the Gray Whale, however if an article had been created in the past and deleted I would like to have access to the deleted article to use it as a rough frame. I do not know how to search for previously deleted articles. Can you see if there was ever an article on J.J.? If there was an article on J.J. can you please put what is there in my sandbox? I am not in a hurry, so no rush, and if you are not able to assist I am good with that too. I just would rather have something to get me started, rather than starting from scratch. Thanks, VVikingTalkEdits 18:38, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

  • Hi, I can't see any previous article either under "JJ..." or "J.J..." or either spelling of "Grey". There's a redlink to an article in Transportation_of_animals#Killer_whales but that doesn't seem to have ever existed either. Black Kite (talk) 18:49, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
    • Thank you for looking. Looks like starting from scratch is the way to go. VVikingTalkEdits 18:54, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

Bhupendra Chaubey

Dear Black Kite, i would like to oppose the recent decision to delete the wikipedia page of Bhupendra Chaubey since he is a widely respected and prominent Indian journalist. Many other Indian journalists--less prominent than him--have their own wikipedia page. So i don't see the logic behind denying him a wikipedia page. I also take strong objection to my being called a single agenda editor in the discussion on this page. I have so far made edits in wikipedia pages on journalism, sanskrit literature, politics, history, and philosophy. Please let me know about the appeal process. Thank you. Soham321 (talk) 23:24, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

  • Well, the discussion was Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bhupendra Chaubey from 2014. The user that was referred to as a SPA was not you but User:Kunal 82, who created the original page on Chaubey and edited nothing else apart from the article on Chaubey's TV station. The usual place for an appeal process would be WP:DRV, but since the article has been recreated in a different format (the original one was very promotional) I would suggest that the best course of action would be not to delete the article immediately again, but to have another deletion discussion, which I will do now. Black Kite (talk) 09:33, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
