Notability of Big Saltine[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Big Saltine, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Big Saltine seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Big Saltine, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. It's generally not a good idea to write an article about yourself, see WP:AUTOBIO. (Unless I am mistaken, here, and that you are just a fan...) I am still rather confused what you mean by "area" in the article? How big is this area? Elle vécut heureuse à jamais (Be eudaimonic!) 04:45, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of BTL Records[edit]

A tag has been placed on BTL Records requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Accounting4Taste:talk 05:03, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Here's the information you wanted, which I've copied for you from WP:BAND. I'll look forward to seeing you meet these guidelines; be sure to place the relevant information in the article itself and mention that in the Articles for deletion discussion.

Criteria for musicians and ensembles A musician or ensemble (note that this includes a band, singer, rapper, orchestra, DJ, musical theatre group, etc.) is notable if it meets any one of the following criteria:

  • It has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent from the musician/ensemble itself and reliable. This criterion includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, magazine articles, and television documentaries except for the following:
    • Media reprints of press releases, other publications where the musician/ensemble talks about themselves, and advertising for the musician/ensemble.
    • Works comprising merely trivial coverage, such as newspaper articles that simply report performance dates or the publications of contact and booking details in directories.
    • An article in a school or university newspaper (or similar) would generally be considered trivial but should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
  • Has had a charted hit on any national music chart.
  • Has had a record certified gold or higher in at least one country.
  • Has gone on an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one sovereign country, reported in reliable sources.
  • Has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels (i.e. an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable).
  • Contains at least one member who was once a part of or later joined a band that is otherwise notable; note that it is often most appropriate to use redirects in place of articles on side projects, early bands and such.
  • Has become the most prominent representative of a notable style or of the local scene of a city; note that the subject must still meet all ordinary Wikipedia standards, including verifiability.
  • Has won or been nominated for a major music award, such as a Grammy, Juno, Mercury or Grammis award.
  • Has won or placed in a major music competition.
  • Has performed music for a work of media that is notable, e.g. a theme for a network television show, performance in a television show or notable film, inclusion on a compilation album, etc. (But if this is the only claim, it is probably more appropriate to have a mention in the main article and redirect to that page.)
  • Has been placed in rotation nationally by any major radio network.
  • Has been the subject of a half hour or longer broadcast across a national radio or TV network.

You seem to be quite familiar with Wikipedia policy on speedy deletion, but if there's something further I can do to be of assistance, be sure to let me know. Accounting4Taste:talk 05:50, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 06:04, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I believe I should be unblocked because I reposted an article that I though was unfairly speedy-deleted. I said that the person in the article was notable and important however people still gave me an A7 speedy delete. I questioned this and ,Accounting4Taste said that the article should be deleted and salted. The admins decided to delete the article, however they spared me from being salted so I could still write and edit articles. However Accounting4Taste took the liberty of blocking me for vandalism himself, and not only did he suspend me, he suspended me indefinitely. I think it would be a loss to wikipedia to lose someone with my intelligence. I know more about Biology, History, Chemistry, Physics, Sports, and Pop Culture than most people alive, and since I am only 18 I will be able to contribute to Wikipedia for years. I would be more than happy to be put on probation so that everyone can look at my editions under a microscope to see how accurate they are. I am at least asking for a reduced sentence (which I still think is unfair butwould suffice for now.) I am also asking that Accounting4Taste be but on probation because of his/her ignorance to the speedy delete rules. In conclusion I believe that my being blocked is a disservice to all wikipedia users and that you right this injustice by unblocking me, Sincerely, Alexander J. D. A. User history shows no positive contributions to the encyclopedia. What you may know is overshadowed by the fact that you repeatedly created articles about inappropriate subjects. --Kinu t/c 07:16, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

commuting of block[edit]

Hello, after some discussion your block has been commuted to 24 hours. Please for goodness sake, don't try to recreate vanity pages again (or if you feel that your mention -- or that of your friends -- is remarkable on an encyclopedia, make a stronger case for your notability ...). And that if you do intend to make good faith edits, I hope you haven't been discouraged by this episode. Elle vécut heureuse à jamais (Be eudaimonic!) 21:43, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

is page recreation vandalism now?[edit]

Sorry, I have not been active for a while, but I always thought that the behaviour of this user would fall under stubbornness, 3RR, etc. -- i.e. a content dispute. This editor has not made malicious edits per se -- perhaps just attention-seeking at worst (and ignoring consensus). I don't agree with an indefinite block. My advice to this editor (who calls himself "Big Saltine") is that if he thinks he can make useful edits beyond writing an autobiography about himself (or his friends), then he should definitely appeal this block and state his reasons for doing so. What happened to assuming good faith? Has this place grown so big that people can't afford to deal with these issues more delicately now, slapping the label "vandal" on those who are in fact, not vandals? Request reason:

I've learned my lesson. I have been blocked for a while now. I apologize for adding all of the info I added I wasn't trying to vandalize wikipedia, I just wanted to get me and my friends up on a website for our musical recordings. I will stop. you can carefully watch all of my edits, if I ever do anything like this again you can kick me off and delete my account. I never posted anything false, I just posted things about people who might be considered less important than others. I am truly sorry. I know I can help out the wikipedia community. Anything that you need me to do to get my account back I will. Please restore my full member status. Sincerely, Alex Taylor.
