Marcus Alexander Lindberg Born as Alexander Marcus Charles Michael III af Lindeberg is an heir to the Belgian Lindberg Imperium.

Background

Born in Stockholm, Sweden on August 7 in 1987, he is the oldest of 3 sons to Zacharias Michael II Lindberg. The Lindberg family originally came from the suburb Lindeberg, outside of Antwerp, Belgium, where Jaan Mikaėl af Lindeberg made a name for himself as a succesful Diamond Dealer in the late 1800s. Lindeberg quickly built his own imperium, basing his success on imports from Southern and Western Africa. At the beginning of the 1900's Lindeberg controlled the Belgian diamond industry together with the Bernato and Oppenheimer families. After a feud with the Bernato family, Lindeberg was forced to sell his imperium and move to Sweden where he settled down on the west coast in the city of Gothenbourg. He also adapted the more swedish spelling of Lindeberg, Lindberg when he married his first wife Alexandra.

Currently

The Lindberg family is one of 23 families that reached nobility status in Sweden. Although, this has no official status today, many of these families still control some of Sweden's leading businesses and industries, some examples of other prominent familes are Wallenberg and Bonnier. In the 1950's Sweden went through a socialist movement, leading to many of these families leaving Sweden, where many of their off-springs are still based.

Marcus Alexander Lindberg as the oldest son, represents the next generation in line to take over from their ancestors, and was featured in a documentary showed on Swedish TV on May 22, 2006, together with five other heirs and heiresses from other families, named as the Golden Generation. After the show was published, member of the Socialist Party went out in public, critisizing the political system claiming it was:

Due to the public exposure, many children of the Golden Generation are raised abroad, usually in New York, Paris, or Tel-Aviv. Marcus Alexander was no exception, although he studied at the Lycee Francais in Stockholm for a while. After that he has lived in various countries, before his family settled down in Switzerland. However, he is currently studying at University in Canada.

2005 Scandal

In the summer of 2005, at the very popular club Ataris in Stockholm, Swedish police went in for a drug-bust, arresting 23 people, the majority of them coming from these families. Marcus Alexander was one of them,at the night together with young actress Emma Ljungstrőm , but was released later that night as he could not be proven to be under the influence. Nonetheless, these events took over the national headlines and cause a lot of controversy.
