Reverting vandalism

[edit]

Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made: You may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit was inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 03:54, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree; personally, I think it's ridiculous that most obvious vandals get 3-4 chances before getting blocked. If it were up to me, new users who obviously are just here to vandalize or insult would be blocked on sight...but we can't do that. Anyway, I like to give the warnings just so that I can get them blocked faster. But it's just a personal editing style; since you obviously know what you're doing, then there's nothing to worry about. Best, rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 04:21, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Recipe spam

[edit]

If you find any more, just create a new section in AN/I and reference the previous section. I've blocked all accounts you've listed so far. A user gets only one set of warnings regardless of the number of accounts he/she opens up. Therefore, I don't mind blocking new accounts on sight. On the bright side, s/he'll run out of IP addresses eventually, if s/he hasn't already. Nice work. Rklawton (talk) 01:10, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Santo Domingo is the CAPITAL of the Dominican Republic

[edit]

Hi there,

Re. the above, just wanted to let you know that Lenny56 (talk · contribs) is a brand new user that joined today; I see that you're an experienced editor, so just wanted to tell you what had happened, and why they might not realise the rules, hence inserted the comment twice, etc.

I've tried to explain it to them in User_talk:Lenny56#1930_Dominican_Republic_hurricane.

Not looking for any action on your part - you're conduct was spot-on; just keeping you in the loop.

All the best,  Chzz  ►  04:18, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect undo of Earth's Gravity correction

[edit]

Regarding Earth's Gravity: None of the terms in this equation are dimensioned. The expression is only accurate for h in metres as indicated. The altitude term is 10 (9.7) times larger than it should be as currently written (before my edit). Deriving the altitude term from g=GM/d2 yields a sensitivity of about 30mgal per 100 metre and the expression is only correct with my edit. See http://www.chsfootball.net/earth_g_2.doc for example. Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:52, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
