March 2021[edit]

Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. At least one of your edits on the page Thomas Frederick Waugh, while it may have been in good faith, was difficult to distinguish from vandalism. To help other editors understand the reason for the changes, you can use an edit summary for your contributions. You can also take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Huggums537 (talk) 20:36, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome![edit]

Hello, AshleyFin, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Kevin Nicholson (businessman), which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Information icon Hello, AshleyFin, welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. Your editing pattern indicates that you may be using multiple accounts or coordinating editing with people outside Wikipedia. Our policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow this, and users who misuse multiple accounts may be blocked from editing. If you operate multiple accounts directly or with the help of another person, please disclose these connections. Thank you. --Blablubbs|talk 11:02, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon

Hello AshleyFin. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:AshleyFin. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=AshleyFin|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. --Blablubbs|talk 11:02, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Declaration[edit]

I am not sure why I am receiving this message again and again from multiple users. I just created a page in good faith. Nobody is my employer and I created a page of person who passes the criteria of Wikipedia and I think Wikipedia is platform where everyone can contribute. I am feeling that I did something wrong. AshleyFin (talk) 14:52, 30 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I am retired government official and doing this to spend my time. Thanks

  • Hello AshleyFin. It is probably because the edit history of this account is similar to what we often see from WP:COI editors. It made various minor edits to become autoconfirmed, then the large majority of edits have been to a positive BLP. Also, with this politician reportedly running for governor or the senate in 2022, the timing aligns with his supporters looking to get his socials in order. MrsSnoozyTurtle 22:35, 30 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • AshleyFin as also MrsSnoozyTurtle advices you should refrain from editing topics where there are possible COI issues. I would advise you to do edits in your nearby places which seems notable to you instead of publishing pages for businessmen and companies. Also, From next time go through AFC to avoid publishing promotional and advertising content which is a major issue on Wikipedia we are dealing with. Sanketio31 (talk) 11:26, 2 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I believe I am being attacked and all of the claims here feels like someone is fabricating it in their own mind. Obviously a new user would first do edits rather than publishing. The subject I worked on is notable, the page was attacked many times and even a prod was declined by User:Chiro725 so I believe MrsSnoozyTurtle is on a mission because all of her edits are only to redirect and remove notable subjects from Wikipedia while hurting and blaming others of COI. If this is the case all of the pages on Wikipedia are COI then. Since Snoozy is on that page 3-4 different users are attacking the page I suggest you investigate socks of MrsSnoozy because User:Sanketio31 is always here in support and even came on the said page after the prod was declined. I am only here to defend myself because you are blaming me for none, Wikipedia is a property of MrsSnoozy or any single user, its a public domain and everyone has a right to publish and I did nothing wrong and there's no promotion on the page I created. I would rather seek help from more neutral people because I am not feeling well how you people are attacking me.

Still I am respecting your suggestion and will submit AFC so better guide MrsSnoozy as well that instead of removing and redirecting pages better let the community decide through xfd because she is not an ocean of knowledge who knows everything. All pages here are created by supporters, fans and people who are expert in the subjects, so better first read What Wikipedia is instead of hitting new users. AshleyFin (talk) 13:06, 4 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

my question is the problem and discussion above for this page which is continuously being redirected and Prodded and now, how these people are attacking me with warnings for no reasons and even being biased with such statements I would advise you to do edits in your nearby places which seems notable to you instead of publishing pages for businessmen and companies, I am not sure why and is creating a page is a sin? This is the page in Question Kevin Nicholson (businessman) — Preceding unsigned comment added by AshleyFin (talkcontribs) 13:40, 4 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@AshleyFin: No one has accused you of anything nor has anyone attacked you – please don't accuse anyone, and let's focus on content rather than contributors. With regards to the Kevin Nicholson (businessman) article, MrsSnoozyTurtle redirected it because she believes he is only notable for one event. I neither agree nor disagree with this as I haven't looked into it that much, but you should try to discuss this with her before edit warring or accusing her. If, after trying to discuss this further with her, you can't reach a solution, Articles for Deletion or dispute resolution are potential options.
