STOP. ADJUST.[edit]

Please stop. I reverted your edit. I see many other people have reverted your edits. You should not continue to make changes when they are reverted in most cases. You should try to find out why so many of your edits are being reverted.

I don't know about the other editors but I reverted because of WP:INFOBOXPURPOSE which says the "purpose of an infobox: to summarize (and not supplant) key facts that appear in the article".

In some cases (especially if a figures from past and present are being compared) it might be useful to include the inflation adjusted budget and box office figures somewhere in the article the article body (such as in the Production or Box office sections) but please stop adding the inflation adjusted template to the Infobox, there is no good reason for it. Please also note WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is not a good reason. -- 109.79.75.129 (talk) 00:35, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • To reiterate the point above, please stop adding inflation adjusted grosses to the infobox on film articles. You have created a lot of clean-up work for other editors. Changes on the scale you are undertaking should be discussed first—you really should have considered why it is not there in the first place! The purpose of the infobox is to document basic key facts; inflation adjustment is not straightforward and needs to be placed in context, and the infobox is wholly unsuited that purpose. • I specifically mentioned WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS because I previously (about a year ago) had a disagreement with a very experienced editor who didn't see any downside to doing this and although I was able to dissuade him in that specific case, his response implied that there were {{Good article}}s that featured this bad example. (Unfortunately I cannot recall which film exactly.) In most cases there is no good reason to mention inflation adjusted figures at all. -- 109.79.75.129 (talk) 01:24, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
