Um hi. Thanks for stopping me. --Alphachimpbot 21:57, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

Might I suggest that bots would, if possible, mark their many routine edits by default as 'minor'? For people with long watchlists that would be rather helpfull. Fastifex 10:56, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Good point. Done. --Alphachimp talk 19:59, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Booster Gold article mislabelling

May I ask why the article Booster Gold was labelled as in need of clean up? ACS (Wikipedian) 21:45, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Alphachimpbot only sorts articles that have already been flagged for cleanup. You should contact the person that put on the cleanup tag. Alphachimp talk 01:39, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

You might not have detected it, but edits made by User:24.205.31.88(blocked numerous times for introducing incorrect info to articles) directly before your minor edit was vandailistic nonsense which I since reverted...Ranma9617 01:08, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

My bot is not a vandalism bot. It only updates cleanup tags. It did that...quite well. I'm not really sure what you think I should do. Alphachimpbot 01:23, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

Please stop the bot and fix issues before continuing

Hi,

Refering to this edit by the bot, is there any use of substituting templates that are commented out. It only adds extra load on the server. Please stop and run only after fixing the issues. — Ambuj Saxena (talk) 14:25, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

I am dealing with this issue. Thanks for the heads up. As comment is double posted, comment is moved to archive page. Bot stopped. Alphachimp talk 14:43, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the unnecessary updates!

New messages? No, needless edits!

You do realise that this generates "You have new messages" templates? That's likely to be terribly annoying. Guettarda 01:07, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

Of course. I've responded on each of your talk pages. Coincidentally, this bot is one of seven bots currently subst'ing talk page templates (and the last to join that group). At least 1 of those bots (User:FFBot) is run by a Wiki administrator. Alphachimp talk 01:53, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

Todd P webpage

This message is from the user Toddyking. Please note that the Todd P page I created is NOT about me. I am not Todd P, and I have nothing to do with this individual other than the fact that we share the same first name and I spoke to him once, for about 10 minutes, at a concert. Before deleting the Todd P article for lack of significance, please note that Todd P's concert promotion efforts have been discussed in many major publications including _The New York Times_ and _The Village Voice_. This is because, for better or for worse, Todd P exerts a major influence on the shape of indie rock music by organizing many concerts (on average probably 3 or 4 per week) in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where a substantial portion of the fan base of this music is concentrated. If you need proof that I am not Todd P, I can send you an e-mail from my official university e-mail address, so you can see that he and I have different names. Thanks for your attention to this matter. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Toddyking (talkcontribs)

Why is BCarlson33 blocked?

According to my talk page Alphachimpbot has blocked me "for posting potentially defamatory claims on Wikipedia." Can you please explain what claims I have made that are defamatory, especially since I have made no contributions of any kind since June 18? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bcarlson33 (talkcontribs)

Generally bots can't respond to messages, as indicated above. Check out WP:SUBST. alphaChimp laudare 00:32, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

Why are you replacing warnings that I have issued with the same exact warning template? Duke53 | Talk 02:02, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Date-tagging merge tags

Just a note that merge tags that are already dated shouldn't have a second date added to them. For example, in this edit [2] a merge tag was being moved between pages (since there were multiple merges proposed). -- Beland 18:27, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

Right. The issue appears to have occured in some articles with multiple merge tags, given the placement of listings. It seems to have had very limited propagation, and no real effect. Thanks for telling me. Alphachimp 03:54, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

You should perma-block this IP

It's public based, so there are many people who will randomly edit the content to vandelize it without fear of reprise. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.138.9.1 (talkcontribs)

Project namespace edits

You've prepended some article space templates to project space pages, such as here. Perhaps you could avoid Wikipedia pages, especially lists of templates, where you'd be able to add dozens of templates to the talk page a la this diff or this one. Hyenaste (tell) 05:00, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

London Gates and Walls

Hi, your Bot has blasted '{Architecture}' across many pages like Aldgate; and many other historic gates of London. While these articles are relevant for historical and geographical purposes, they serve no Architectural purpose, except in so far as refer to structures that are (in the main) no longer there. While I do appreciate that much of modern architecture refers to space, rather than structure, I feel this is taking the concept to extremes. They don't appear to be categorised as structures, this may well be subsumed in a higher category (eg London Wall and its gates). Ta. Kbthompson 20:36, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Subst:Subst

I'm not fully aware of the intricacies of some of finer details of templates and substituting, but I usually do it to my own warnings for other people, as seen on User talk:Zabrak. Recently, however, Alphachimpbot went through the page and made edits to three separate sections of that talk page. As you can see, the third bit it changed was substituting an unsubstituted template. But the first two things it changed ( {{{{{subst|}}}#if:{{{1|}}}| as you did at [[:{{{1}}}]]}} changed to {{{{{subst:subst|}}}#if:{{{1|}}}| as you did at [[:{{{1}}}]]}} ) seem superfluous to me. Am I perhaps missing something here? --Dreaded Walrus 22:43, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Automated message to bot owners

As a result of discussion on the village pump and mailing list, bots are now allowed to edit up to 15 times per minute. The following is the new text regarding bot edit rates from Wikipedia:Bot Policy:

Until new bots are accepted they should wait 30-60 seconds between edits, so as to not clog the recent changes list and user watchlists. After being accepted and a bureaucrat has marked them as a bot, they can edit at a much faster pace. Bots doing non-urgent tasks should edit approximately once every ten seconds, while bots who would benefit from faster editing may edit approximately once every every four seconds.

Also, to eliminate the need to spam the bot talk pages, please add Wikipedia:Bot owners' noticeboard to your watchlist. Future messages which affect bot owners will be posted there. Thank you. --Mets501 00:00, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

template substitution

Please stop your vandalizing bot from going to my talk page and substituting template information. Changing other people's messages is considered VANDALISM. I want you to stop vandalizing my talk page. Thank you. StudierMalMarburg 20:23, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

Template substitution

I notice that you sometimes substitute the test template. Am I doing something wrong? If I put "subst:" in front of "test" will that make the difference? Since I doubt most of these messages are read, I don't want to spend too much time on them by typing out messages and links, etc. Could you advise me on what the best message would be for me to post for newby vandalism? Cheers (I hope I am not being too ambitious by trying to have a conversation with a bot, here; I am already laughed at for saying "thank you" to cash dispensers). qp10qp 16:31, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

As tempted as I was to respond with the bot, I will take this question. Check out WP:UW for a pretty comprehensive list of warnings. I like {{test1}} as a first warning, but it is deprecated. You are supposed to add warnings with the subst: prefix, but a lot of users miss it (myself included many times). If you do miss it, my bot will most certainly get it for you. Cheers, alphachimp 16:36, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
