User talk:Alperen
Welcome
[edit]Hi Alperen, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for joining the coolest online encyclopedia I know of. I hope you stick around. You'll probably find it easiest to start with a tutorial of how the wikipedia works, and you can test stuff for yourself in the sandbox. Check out the simplified ruleset. When you're contributing, you'll probably find the manual of style to be helpful, and you'll also want to remember a couple important guidelines.
- Write from a neutral point of view
- Be bold in editing pages
- Use wikiquette.

Those are probably the most important ones, and you can take a look at some others at the policies and guidelines page. You might also be interested in how to write a great article and possibly adding some images to your articles.
Be sure to get involved in the community – you can contact me on my talk page if you have any questions, and you can check out the village pump, where lots of wikipedians hang out and discuss things. If you're looking for something to do, check out the community portal. And whenever you ask a question or post something on a talk page, be sure to sign your name by typing 4 tildes like ~~~~. Always sign the talk page, never the articles.
Again, welcome! It's great to have you. Happy editing!--May the Force be with you! Shreshth91($ |-| r 3 $ |-| t |-|) 15:20, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

Turkish name
[edit]Hi. I noticed that you speak Turkish. Can you please add a Turkish name for this old Ottoman province into this article: Elayet of Temesvar. If you do not know this name, can you tell me who of the Wikipedia users might know? Thank you. PANONIAN (talk) 23:24, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
Districts of Turkey
[edit]Hi. Thanks for making stubs about the Districts of Turkey. When doing this, don't forget to put the subject in bold text (for instance Başyayla is a district of...) Thanks, Punkmorten 09:18, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
- OK, I will leave it to you :) But I wonder: What if a district has a rather comprehensible article in the Turkish Wikipedia, will you create a stub for it or translate the Turkish entry? Punkmorten 09:34, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
- It might also be a good idea to use the tag {{turkey-geo-stub}} for these Turkish district stubs. This places the article into a category that makes it easier for people to find if they want to expand it. Reyk 14:40, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

Alperen/Trial
[edit]Hello Alperen. I noticed that in your draft User:Alperen/Trial you have the categories still activated, so it's showing up in Category:Esoteric templates and in several others. Could I suggest that you deactivate the category links (by putting a colon before 'Category' in the link) until such time as the article is in the mainspace rather than the userspace? (As per WP:CG, "If you copy an article to your user namespace you should decategorize it".) Cheers! Rex the first talk | contribs 23:39, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
Adding tags to articles
[edit]It's great you're tagging articles that need improvement, but please make sure you use the correct date and don't add the date for {{sources}}. TimBentley (talk) 04:22, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Sütçüler, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. andy 23:28, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Gulfstream Turbo Commander, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. A tag has been placed on Akçadağ, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Eeekster (talk) 08:45, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Philipp Koehn
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Philipp Koehn requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. ArcAngel (talk) ) 18:44, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
Re notability
[edit]You said (in Talk:Philipp Koehn: He has authored a book and many articles and that makes him notable.
This is a common misconception. What would make him notable is if the contents of his book and/or articles are discussed significantly in reliable sources. That may have happened, but there was no evidence in the article.--SPhilbrickT 20:31, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

- I've just declined this nomination. I see that it was your first; please do nominate other articles for Did You Know. However, you don't appear to have realised that Did You Know is only for new articles and newly expanded articles (created or expanded to at least 5 times their previous length within the preceding 5 or 6 days). That's an interesting fact about monitor lizards, but the article isn't eligible. Yngvadottir (talk) 20:18, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Translated articles
[edit]Hi there, Alperen, and thank you for creating Hanna von Pestalozza. For copyright purposes, when you translate articles from another version of Wikipedia, it is important to mention this in your first edit (see Help:Translation). You should also place a translation template on the article's talk page. You will see I've made the necessary changes for HvP. I see you have translated quite a number of biographies of women since the beginning of the month. If you intend to continue along these lines, you might like to become a member of WikiProject Women in Red where we are trying to improve coverage of women on Wikipedia. You can sign up under "New registrations" on Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/New members. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 07:35, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
- User:Ipigott I'm glad to hear that I have helped the project. I would rather stay independent but I will follow the copyright rule and add necessary tags and information! Cheers!--Alperen (talk) 16:53, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
- The most important thing is that you continue to create biographies of women. Even if you do not become a member of the project, you might find it useful to read our Primer. Just let me know if ever you think I can help you out. You might be interested to see that I've been reviewing and assessing all your recent articles, at least those in English. I see that over the years you have also created twice as many in Turkish. Keep up the good work and happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 17:12, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
- I will appreciate any of your or any other project member's help. I can not sometimes pay enough attention for details, referencing or style or other things. Any help in editing, in that regard is appreciated. Best.--Alperen (talk) 17:20, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
- If you join the WiR project and tag your articles with appropriate banners, I think you'll find other contributors will be happy to help you along. But even if you "wish to remain independent", I for one will gladly look through your articles and suggest improvements. I have noticed you are a fast worker and often leave much of the trimming to other contributors. It might be useful for you to see what edits they have been making. For a start, if you are translating from German, it's important to adopt the less wikilinked details of dates and places of birth and death in the article lead. On the English wiki, we do not link months or years. But just let me know if you run into any difficulties. In any case, I'm looking forward to more biographies of women.--Ipigott (talk) 15:53, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

CS1 error on Inge von Bönninghausen
[edit]Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page Inge von Bönninghausen, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:
- A "bare URL and missing title" error. References show this error when they do not have a title. Please edit the article to add the appropriate title parameter to the reference. (Fix | Ask for help)
Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 11:18, 11 February 2024 (UTC)

Great contributions and so many women.... great for Women in Red. I got carried away and added a few pics and tweets - as your work had been highlighted at WIR. The tool I use for adding the pics is called prepbio and it adds a pic and a populated ibox with a couple of clicks. However don't see this as criticism - just building on your contributions. We'd be happy to see you at WIR but grateful to see you reversing historic gender bias anyway. Thank you. Victuallers (talk) 13:25, 24 February 2024 (UTC) |
Manual of styling
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Otuọcha (talk) 19:16, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
Orphans
[edit]Going through your last impressive batch of translations, I noticed you had deleted the orphan tag from Patricia Guerrero Acevedo, In fact it was well placed as the there were no links to the article from other mainspace articles. See Wikipedia:Orphan. I've now added a link from Guerrero (surname).--Ipigott (talk) 09:53, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
- I had introduced a link to that article from Patricia and then removed the tag based on it. Though I'm still not sure if it is a genuine way to deorphanize an article by adding links to names and surnames as they look much alike "list of" articles.--Alperen (talk) 10:22, 25 February 2024 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username MicrobiologyMarcus, and I thank you for your contributions.
I wanted to let you know, however, that I’ve proposed an article that you started, Bintia, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. To prevent the deletion, please add a reference to the article. You may remove the deletion tag yourself once the article has at least one reliable source.

Mass-creation of articles
[edit]Hi,
Are you using a bot or other (semi-)automated program to mass translate articles from de.wiki? The rate is very high (one every few minutes) and some of them, notably BLPs, lack any source.
Please be more careful when creating articles, quality is much more important than speed. Chaotıċ Enby (talk · contribs) 18:10, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
- No, I am not using a bot. I'm starting articles that I have already worked on. I saved them locally and generated links to edit them more conveniently.--Alperen (talk) 18:13, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
- All articles about living people must be well-referenced with sources supporting the claims made about these people. Please imperatively focus on the quality of your sourcing, even if that means translating less articles (I don't know if de.wiki has the same sourcing requirements as us). Chaotıċ Enby (talk · contribs) 18:18, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
- I'm doing my best for translation quality but some of the articles may not comply with sourcing rules, as most of them can as good as the original material only. I have no opposotion for those to be deleted. I can understand that not all material will comply the rules here. I'm mostly interested in translating as much material as I can. Not trying to intentionally avoid rules. Thanks. --Alperen (talk) 18:36, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
- Please make sure that what you're translating complies with sourcing rules before publishing it, thanks. It's your job to make sure of that, not to rely on people behind to check if every article you publish is acceptable. Chaotıċ Enby (talk · contribs) 18:53, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
- I'm editing in good faith, and I believe that collaboration works. Also I find your communication style imperative which I don't believe constructive.--Alperen (talk) 18:58, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
- Collaboration doesn't work if you don't listen to advice and expect others to fix your stuff for you. Chaotıċ Enby (talk · contribs) 20:04, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
