Duplicate images uploaded[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Mike Campese.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:MikeCampese.jpg. The copy called Image:MikeCampese.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. Replaceable fair use Image:MikeC.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:MikeC.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Spike Wilbury talk 18:16, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mike Campese[edit]

Hello, I have deleted Mike Campese once again as a repost of previously deleted content. If you want to start an article on this subject, you need to write it from scratch, in your own words, and prove how he is notable. None of the links you provide prove notability. Please see WP:BAND for more direction. Thanks --Spike Wilbury talk 19:22, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you read the links carefully you will see that there is many noteable things he has done, this is info on the net that I ran across. The Jason Becker CD he was on is a worldwide release and all the major guitar magazine lessons he has written are a worldwide release. I have read the page you suggested WP:BAND and it listed what is considered notable, here is one of them "This criterion includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, magazine articles, and television documentaries" I would not of decided to write a page if the info was not important. Can you help me out with this? maybe start it off in the right direction.......Alistern

Appearing on a Jason Becker CD might be borderline. I would prefer to have additional sources. Please read the criteria more carefully - you have to be the subject of one or more article, not the author of. I have said all along that Campese could/should have an article, but the major problem all along has been that he himself or people related to him have created the article over and over using the exact same text, suggesting that it is being copied from somewhere. This is a conflict of interest (you never write articles about yourself) and it is also a likely copyright violation. My best piece of advice is to start from scratch, write a short article in your own words, and cite sources that prove he is notable. Thanks --Spike Wilbury talk 12:51, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Spike, I know he has done a lot of magazine articles in Guitar World and Guitar Player, I ran across a few on the net. That is why I put up the links. There are articles on Mike's site that I have seen archived, but how would you cite those? The Jason Becker CD is on itunes and Mike's name is listed, isn't that a source? I enclosed that link above. Also, I did enclose a link above where it mentiones he wrote music for a Lions Gate movie. I'm not related to him I just like his style, I enjoy listening to guitar players that play like him. I'm seeing this info on a lot of places. I remember he had a page a couple years back that was around for a while. I'm sorry, this site can be real confusing, maybe you can help me start the page and I can get the idea? If you look at other guitarist pages, it is all similiar......Ali

Above all else, I must again stress that you need to write the article from scratch in your own words. You cannot copy and paste text from the previous article or from anywhere on the Web. I would start with a basic statement of who he is, and then you can create a heading where you discuss how he is notable (ie, mention that he has played on albums with notable articles, he has toured nationally or internationally with Trans-Siberian Orchestra, whatever else you can find). You might create a heading with his discography. You then need a heading called "References" where you list links proving the statements you made in the article. You can make a heading called "External links" where you can list his official web site (nothing else). I would not list or write about his instructional material because that is basically commercial promotion - the purpose of this article is to inform people about Campese as a guitarist but not to promote him. See the difference? Don't worry too much about exact formatting, someone can come along later and help clean it up. --Spike Wilbury talk 19:10, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Spike! The last time we spoke you gave me advise on how to put this page I have worked on, I'm just wondering if you could check it for me? Thanks, Ali

Fair use rationale for Image:MikeC.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:MikeC.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Feedback[edit]

Howdy - thanks for posting your draft and asking for feedback. I'm putting it at the bottom because I don't want it to get lost in the middle of the page. The article looks pretty good so far. I think you've established notability. Two things, though. Please be aware that the article will be edited by other people, simple copyediting and also to remove things that sound a bit too much like a PR piece. If you have an interested in promoting Mr. Campese, you should be aware that this editing will occur and it's probably best that you let it run its course so no one accuses you of having a conflict of interest. The second thing is that the image you uploaded will be a problem. We can't use a copyrighted image of a living person. So, you can either upload a free image or we can't have one. If you own the copyright to any images of the artist, you can upload one and release it under a compatible license. I can help you do this, because the image use policy here is complex and hard to get through. Thanks --Spike Wilbury (talk) 19:41, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Spike! Thank you for getting back to me and your advise, I'm glad you like it so far. You have written great articles about musicians and your feedback is always welcome. I did upload one in Wiki Commons that hopefully would work. I understand people will edit it, I just don't want them to delete the page.....Thanks Ali

Hello Spike! I really want to put this page up, I'm just afraid a Wiki editor will delete it.......Ali

Hello, I took the liberty of moving the content into article space. I will keep an eye on it in the short term, because it shouldn't be deleted at this time. I'll work a bit on it later to clean up the formatting. --Spike Wilbury (talk) 20:28, 7 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Spike! Thanks for putting it up and keeping an eye on it. I looked back at the history, I did notice a couple Wiki editors deleted it, just hope they don't mess with it, I guess it just has to be unflagged. Thanks again, Ali

Hey Spike! How do you categorize that pic on there? Ali
