Some cookies to welcome you!

Welcome to Wikipedia, Alf1967! I am CambridgeBayWeather and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or by typing {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome!

I've started a discussion here that concerns some of your editing. You may want to respond there. — Ched :  ?  21:34, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • The main problem is that you seem to be using WP:HOTCAT to add comments to pages. HotCat is for adding categories only, it is not a means of communication, and every time you do this you are creating useless category pages which need to be cleaned up, meaning that your messages, which were not reaching their intended target anyway, are lost entirely. To edit a talk page or any other page you simply use the "edit" link at the top of the section you wish to edit (not the little + at the bottom of the page) and begin typing. More information about talk pages is available here. Beeblebrox (talk) 22:04, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Of course, my intention was send a message to an editor. Please delete! Alf1967 (talk) 22:20, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What happened here is that the HotCat gadget was turned on by default for everybofdy a while ago, but a lot of us who already used it did not realize this. That situation has been rectified, and I assure you nobody holds any of this against you. It was the community that made a mistake by swithcing on a tool liike that without explaining it to anyone. It is with sadness that we note the passing of Jim Howes. Throughout his life, Jim worked to make the world a better place. WikiProject Scouting now has no administrators listed as willing to help the WikiProject. If you are an administrator and are willing to help, please let us know here.
