Tempercalm deletion?
I was recently searching for the Tempercalm wikipedia page and noticed that it has been deleted?
I am aware of the rules of deletion around here and cannot see why Tempercalm should not be allowed a Wiki entry. It's very confusing.
Their inclusion on the soundtrack of a major XBox 360 game, the release of a debut album distributed and published worldwide in all major record stores, and also coverage in up to a dozen major magazine reviews and articles (and thats only the ones I've found thusfar).
Will the creator of the article also please step forward, I am trying to gather as much information on this great band as possible and was shocked to find the page deleted. I managed to find a cached version of the page, but I would like to see the article reinstated so that it may be amended and tended to.
Thank you. 81.159.52.71 (talk) 16:39, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
- The article failed to assert notability under WP:MUSIC. It also failed to move other editors in its AfD at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tempercalm. This does not mean that the subject is not notable, but that it was not shown to Wikipedia through verifiable independent reliable sources. If they are notable and you can provide sources, by all means, write a good article about them. If you register I'd be willing to restore the article to your user space for you to work on. Good luck. -- Alexf(talk) 00:17, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, I have now signed up. I will myself set about finding all relevent sources on the web to include in the page. I'm sure I can find others to help me too. Thank you. JenRonomy (talk) 19:59, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
Article about a real person, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject
Johannes Duchrow is the Paris Bureau Chief for one of Germany's (Europe's) largest television networks, which had been indicated in the article you speedily deleted — unfortunate. I'll take important or significant to mean important or significant to wikipedian editor's whims. —Preceding unsigned comment added by TechStrings (talk • contribs) 04:00, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
- It is not a biased decision but a decision made by following the rules. When we mean important, we mean it has notability and verifiablility from reliable sources. I am not saying a journalist is not important or notable. But not every journalist is. Does he pass WP:BIO? The sources you provided only mention his posting in Paris. I'd be willing to restore it if you can answer these questions. -- Alexf(talk) 16:57, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
I believe I provided reliable sources; however, I appreciate your succinct response and will not debate further the non-importance or importance of this person. --TechStrings (talk) 01:45, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Celtia
Donovan unreleased album
This page has been deleted. The deletion log for the page is provided below for reference.
- 03:30, 18 February 2008 Alexf (Talk | contribs) deleted "Celtia" (WP:PROD, reason was 'Per WP:MUSIC, unreleased albums are not notable unless there has been substantial coverage in reliable sources.'.)
This album has been released as a bootleg. It is readily available online. I'd also add that it's interesting to read about unreleased albums, to learn why they were never released.....

Tiffany Giardina
Hi it's me Matt and i was wondering why u deleted Tiffany Giardina? Tiffany Giardina is a real artist and she made a real album called No Average Angel… It's on Itunes… Also she has lots and lots of Christmas songs that she made ever since she was young, like maybe 10 years old or something… And she also sang on the Another Cinderella Story Soundtrack so i don't know why u would delete Tiffany Giardina… i wasn't the one who created that article or any other article that might've been create within it, but i just discovered it a couple of weeks ago that someone had created the article and that it was deleted… Can u tell me why 785 Records is notable enough to stay on Wikipedia and Tiffany Giardina isn't? 69.121.122.105 (talk) 21:03, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
- When was that? Please follow the instructions at the top and provide the necessary information. I have deleted literally thousands of articles (mostly as speedy deletions), so it is not very likely I'd remember that one. I gave a quick look at my deletion log (you can see it from my User Page) and did not see it. If you read my page on speedy deletions, you already have the answer to your question. Most probably it was an A7, meaning that notability was not asserted, but without more specific information I cannot be more precise. As per why this page was deleted when other articles exist, please note that every article has to live on its own merits. -- Alexf(talk) 02:47, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
deletion of "Brian Feinstein" page - composer
Hi Alex,
Brian here, composer - I recently saw my page was deleted but not exactly sure why, since all the material I mentioned is my own copyright!
I hope you'll be kind enough in re-installing my page as I have lots of great updates for it! www.BrianFeinsteinMusic.com

- Don't know off-hand. I could not find it in the last month of deletions in the deletion log. Can't remember every page name of course, so you have to help me here. As the instructions above the edit window say, you need to leave a redlink to the exact name of the page so I can check. If it was a Speedy Deletion, you might get some answers from my CSD explanation page. Or maybe the "Why was my page deleted?" article can be of help. In any case just because you wrote something yourself, that does not make you notable. Please read the notability requirements for musicians . Also you have a conflict of interest and please understand that autobiographies in Wikipedia are strongly discouraged. As per "your own copyright", please read Wikipedia's policies on Donating copyrighted materials and the GNU Free Documentation License. -- Alexf(talk) 23:57, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

I just added 86.162.152.28 (talk · contribs) to the socks for that account ... one of its two edits, a year ago, is the same exact vandalism to my page as was just reverted. Stumbled across this speedied article. I could recreate it, but think that's discourteous to a fellow admin. I think there is a notability claim in the speedied article, meaning it should at least have gone to AfD, but I think it's notable. Google hits are aplenty, making finding the gems more difficult, but there's some jewish media coverage of it, such as (from page 4 of the Ghits) this from The Jewish Week. I'd be grateful if you'd restore it. Cheers, --Dweller (talk) 10:53, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Excuse me?
I have never edited etc, any article or anything on wiki. I have never even visited any page to do with Lionel Messi. Get your facts right before gobbing off.
- Well, before you come off charging you should check and see why is there a notice. You migh like to check your Talk page and see what was done to the Lionel Messi article. It was way back in November 2007 and you most probably were not the one, but your IP address was. If you do not want to receive warning messages and possible vandalism blocks for something you did not do, then consider creating and account. In any case, please remember to be civil when communicating with other editors, and to sign your posts by adding four tildes at the end. Have a good day. -- Alexf(talk) 00:09, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

I wonder if I can bother you...
Hi there. I noticed that you are both an admin active at CAT:SD and an JS-savvy user. Growing frustrated with having to type the same decline messages all the time, I wonder if you are maybe willing and able to write a script that automates this procedure, i.e. removing any {{db-xxx}}
tag from a page and saving the page with a prewritten edit-summary that can be chose from a dropdown or suchlike (like EasyBlock has). Would you consider writing such a script? Regards SoWhy 09:44, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
- No, not really, I've never written a script for WP and it would be a chore with researching, learning the ways (wouldn't know where to start), and testing. What I do in my case is I keep a text editor page open with boilerplate answers, messages and warning tags, etc. I have two screens so it is very easy to pick the one I need and copy/paste. Sorry, but maybe someone else could do it for you. -- Alexf(talk) 10:52, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
- No problem at all. I'll go and bother someone else. :-) SoWhy 11:04, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
Vandal reporting
Hi Alexf - saw your response over on WP:AIV to a report I made about a vandalism-only account. I'm still learning the ropes, so wanted to check: what's the threshold for reporting a user as a vandalism-only account? All of that user's contribs have been vandalism, but I take it there had been too few for that criterion to apply. What's the lower limit? Or is it that they still need to have five warnings, even if everything they're doing is vandalism, in which case is it ever worth reporting as vandalism-only rather than as vandalism-after-final-warning? Many thanks. Gonzonoir (talk) 13:17, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
- Unless it is a serious case (i.e. BLP violations, racism, or similar where they must be stopped immediately), a user should have at least a level 3 warning. It is not necessary for blatant cases to go to five (level 4 plus one more vandalism act) to report to AIV and a block, but they need at least one that tells them they will be blocked. Level 1 and level 2 are too nice and "welcomy" and do not clearly warn of the consequences. After having read level 3 or level 4, they cannot say they were not told to stop, or else. -- Alexf(talk) 15:15, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. Thanks very much. S/he seems to have stopped now (unhatched chickens notwithstanding), so perhaps your warning did the trick. Thanks for the help. Gonzonoir (talk) 15:19, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

US-Airport Template
I would like to request the airports template be changed. Please review the ENTIRE discussion of the template discussion. Since I joined I requested adding a commercial site called Globalair.com and at the time I thought I was just adding another site to the template that was full of them. Since that time I have requested several times to remove all commercial web sites from the template and replace them with a single government FAA web site. I have researched the template discussion regarding making any changes and have found the discussion has been going on for over a year now and it seems that there have been attempts to remove one commercial web site called Airnav.com. From what I have seen it seems that almost every time that someone issues a change there are two editors that always seem to block any changes and specifically to Airnav.com. I have since tried to suggest we take all commercial web sites from the template and replace them with the government FAA web site, each time being locked/ignored. This is frustrating and does not sound right. According to the Wiki guidelines for external links there should not be any spamming of sites allowed (I found out about the rules after researching), which is why I suggested changing it to the one FAA website.
I understand that you are the person who locked this template and I would appreciate you completely investigating this matter. Please read the entire template discussion and not just the last couple of post it will really make a difference.
Here is the FAA web site and URL to use if you want to make the change:

- Sorry but I'm not even sure what page you are talking about as you have not provided a link. As part of my Admin duties, I deleted hundreds of pages and protected dozens if not hundreds. I must have protected the one you mention (no link provided so I'm not sure) probably because of excessive vandalism or a request to stop edit warring. As I don't remember it, it must have been done many months ago, maybe even over a year. If you supplied the proper link, I could take a look and consider unlocking, else you could ask at Requests for page unprotection which is the proper venue. It is not my main area of expertise. I just protected it as a request from RFPP as a passing Admin. I would suggest you gather a consensus at the Talk Page (I see you have been posting there already) and then request unprotection at RFPP or place an {{editprotected}} tag to request help in placing the change. I could technically do it for you but it requires a lot of reading (time I do not have today). I might be able to look into this over the weekend. If you cannot wait, then the other avenues mentioned are open to you as then other uninvolved Admins may help. -- Alexf(talk) 14:55, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Deletion of GOAL Agent Programming Language page
Dear Alex,
Before I knew it, very speedily indeed, the new page GOAL Agent Programming Language I started to create was deleted again. While creating more content for the page it was gone, and I would like to ask you to reconsider and please undo the deletion.
GOAL is an agent programming language like 3APL (see 3APL). (Actually I designed the 3APL language myself as you may quickly check out yourself by googling for "3apl hindriks".) The GOAL language is a successor of the 3APL language, and I would like to explain and clarify this in a dedicated wiki page. As such the language is a more recent development, but it has significant recognition within the scientific community on agent programming. As the label "GOAL" is generic (and short for Goal-Oriented Agent Language) it is more difficult to locate it via google, but "goal agent programming language" provides plenty results which show its scientific recognition.
I would be much appreciate your effort in undeleting the page again.
Thanks, Kind regards, KoenHindriksKoenhindriks (talk) 11:22, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
- The page as it had very little content and no assertion of notability for the subject through reliable sources. I restored it as per your request. I'd advise you work on it fast as it might be deleted again, unless you can assert notability. Good luck. -- Alexf(talk) 11:42, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

You deleted this article citing the AfD WP:Articles for deletion/Robert M. Lambert as the reason for deletion (log), but before the AfD discussion reached consensus to delete. Did I miss something?
I don't care that the article was deleted (I never saw it and I probably would have endorsed its deletion), but I am concerned that the proper process wasn't followed. KuyaBriBriTalk 17:00, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
- My mistake in naming. I was planning to do it for blatant advertisement, but the pre-filled default reason came as AfD as it seems the AfD notice was posted at that moment. I was quick and pressed enter, I now see from your message what happened. Went ahead and restored as I did not know there was an AfD. Still think it's speedy material and posted so at the AfD. Thanks for the heads up. -- Alexf(talk) 17:09, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Deletion of Reed's Ginger Brew
Alex, I'm a new user and am trying to put up a definition page for Reed's Ginger Brew. I used the Virgil's Root beer template, which was put up by another user. I don't see how it was blatant advertising as you say? It was factual. It would be helpful if you or other editors could comment first before deleting so we can learn how to properly build a non-promotional page. Now it appears I have to start over on this, but have no idea what section was blatant advertising. Just trying to learn and be productive, so suggestions on how to get this page back up are welcomed. I'm also working with another editor here who has offered to assist me.
Irthcomm (talk) 18:30, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
- I see Reed's Ginger Brew redirects to Reed's, Inc.. The original article you mention had a list of products and no external references other than the company's website. This seemed a G11 to the editor that tagged it and the admin (in this case myself) agreed. All of this information is duplicated in the current Reed's article mentioned above so I don't see the need, and therefore the redirect seems correct. If you still want the original article, I could userfy it for you. -- Alexf(talk) 22:51, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
Colin Munroe
The page for Colin Munroe has been deleted multiple times. I would like to suggest why his page should be created:
1) One of his albums, "Colin Munroe is the Unsung Hero," has been downloaded approximately 30,000 times.
2) He has been featured on PerezHilton.com twice, once for his cover of Kanye West's "Flashing Lights" and a second time for his cover of U2's "Sunday Bloody Sunday".
3) He has collaborated with Dallas Austin, Wale, Blaqstarr, Joell Ortiz, MIMS, Black Milk, and others.
4) He is signed to Universal/Motown (Universal Records) and Rowdy Records, which is owned by Grammy Award-winning producer Dallas Austin.
5) He has remixed U2 (Sunday Bloody Sunday) - 59,379; Kanye West (Flashing Lights) - 661,717; and Bob Dylan (Who Killed Davey Moore?) - recently released.
6) He has received over 650,000 song plays on Myspace.com.
7) His Myspace profile has been viewed over half-a-million times.
8) He co-wrote and produced the majority (10 songs) on Ray Robinson's Juno award-nominated and UMAC award-nominated album "What It Is."
9) He has been featured on the front pages of IMEEM, AllHipHop.com, and other websites.
10) Wednesday, November 19, 2008: The video for "Will I Stay" by Colin Munroe has been selected as the clip of the day and featured on the AOL Music homepage

Aldo Ferraresi
Dear Sir, I see that you have deleted or suggested to delete the page I wrote about ALDO FERRARESI, assuming that it was a copyright infringement of a site managed by my friend Cheniston Roland, cremona-u.net.com. If you had attentively read that article (Souvenir of Aldo Ferraresi) you would have seen that it is signed by myself, Gianluca La Villa, being the author of all that stuff concerning Aldo Ferraresi life (not the discography which is due to Cheniston Roland). deletion of diabetes educator and diabetes education
Hi Alex,
The entries for the terms Diabetes Educator and Diabetes Education were created by an official representative of the organization which holds the copyright to the information included. Please reactivate these postings.
One of the documents cited as proof of copyright infringement on the entry for diabetes educator (http://www.wadepage.org/files/file/Newsletters/March%2009%20WADE%20newsletter-1(1).pdf) is actually an infringement on our copyright to the original material. I am the official representative for AADE for our online presence. I don't really know how to put the pages back up, but I urgently request you to do so. Please explain to me the process going forward.
Sincerely, Amber McCulloch Username: AADE09 Manager of Communications American Association of Diabetes Educators AADE09 (talk) 17:21, 25 March 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by AADE09 (talk • contribs) 17:15, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
- Amber, is your text licensed under GFDL? You should read Wikipedia's copyright violations page for more information. Another issue is that terms (definitions) may not be suitable as Wikipedia is not a dictionary. I will userfy the page for you to work on.
- Username: There is another issue that runs afoul of policy with your account name. Your statement: "I am the official representative for AADE for our online presence" is a problem. There is no such thing as an "online presence" in Wikipedia. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a vehicle for advertisement or public relations. From our username policy: "Use of Wikipedia for promotion of a company or group is not permitted, and accounts that do this will be blocked". This is an issue that has to be addressed.
- Notability: If the company is notable, then it deserves an article, as long as reliable sources are provided. You, as an employee, have a conflict of interest that must be taken into consideration. Please ask if you have any questions, or need clarifications, and please remember to sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~) at the end. -- Alexf(talk) 17:40, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

AIaV for 64.150.240.159
Hello - i've twice filed a report asking for an extension on this IP's current 1 week block; the helper bot clears away the request and i'm unsure whether it's doing it under request of an admin denying the request, or because the helper bot sees that there is already a block. Could you tell me which it is, and if it's the latter, could you consider the request? Thanks. Quaeler (talk) 15:36, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
- HelperBot cleared because I extended their block. Should they abuse their Talk Page or Harass other editors while blocked, report them and their Talk Page will be also protected for the duration. -- Alexf(talk) 15:38, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks for the reply. Quaeler (talk) 15:39, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
64.150.240.159
Hi, could you block 64.150.240.159 from editing his/her talk page please? They are abusing it. Cheers - Kingpin13 (talk) 16:13, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, don't worry, I see you haven't edited for a while so I'll find some other admin :) - Kingpin13 (talk) 16:14, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

- Does the subject meet WP:BIO? Can you show reliable sources? Also, it looks like you might have a conflict of interest. Are you the subject? -- Alexf(talk) 13:00, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
Hey Alex, no conflict of interest, just a fan. I found some of the articles written about him on the Hispanic wire and on msn latino hope this helps bring back his page!

- The material provided barely mentions the name. Please read WP:V, WP:BIO and WP:BLP for more information on what is needed. -- Alexf(talk) 11:47, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
hybrid seo deleted
why was my article on hybrid seo deleted? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.211.245.185 (talk) 12:52, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
- Unless you give me a link to it, as requested at the top of the edit page, I can't answer. Have you looked here for an answer? -- Alexf(talk) 12:57, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
I would have like to put a "hangon tag" to the Green Serpent before you deleted it and I would have been happy to add notability. It is a French fairy tale. I've started a request to restore it on its still existant talk page. Can you restore it? Goldenrowley (talk) 00:18, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
- OK. I restored it and put a {{hangon}} notice for you. It is up to you to work on it and assert notability. Don't wait or it will be deleted. -- Alexf(talk) 01:41, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you I've done my stuff. Goldenrowley (talk) 03:27, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

- The article was deleted as A7 ("An article about a real person, an organization, or web content that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant."). In the future, please give a link to it, as requested at the top of the edit page, to make it easier to find. -- Alexf(talk) 11:52, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Double redirects
- These moves have been made primarily by the User:The Transhumanist on behalf of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Outline of knowledge#Outlines of countries. Over the past several years, several different article name formats have been used for similar types of country-related articles. Examples include:
- Index of Country-related articles
- Index of Country-related topics
- List of Country-related articles
- List of Country-related topics
- Outline of Country
- Outline of Country-related articles
- Outline of Country-related topics
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Outline of knowledge is attempting to standardize on the following three article title formats:
- Outline of Country - a hierarchical outline of country-related topics
- List of Country-related topics - an alphabetical list of country-related topics
- Index of Country-related articles - an alphabetical index of country-related articles
- I am currently attempting to clean up double redirects. --Buaidh (talk) 17:12, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Article Deleted
Why was this article deleted?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dida_(band)
it says it didn't show the importance of the band. They actually do a lot of live shows and are well known on Long Island. Do we need a petition signed by fans? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ericthecro (talk • contribs) 18:08, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
- No. You need to read and comply with WP:BAND. -- Alexf(talk) 18:55, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Samuel de Champlain
You corrected all the inappropriate changes done by vandals, but one. Compare selected versions between 01:20, 30 March 2009 (66.36.144.151) and your repairing contribution at 15:19, 31 March 2009 on Samuel de Champlain article, and you will find that we should have "After 1598" instead of "After 1584" at the beginning of the paragraph "Early Travels". See on Biography at the Dictionary of Canadian Biography Online the paragraph:
- "He must have begun his sailing early, since he informed the queen in 1613 that the art of navigation had attracted him from his “tender youth.” In 1632 he stated that he had served against the League in the army of Henri IV until 1598, with the title of sergeant; when the Spanish troops maintained in Brittany by Philippe II left Port-Blavet (Port-Louis, in Morbihan), Champlain embarked with them. From Spain, according to what he told the king in 1630 and 1632, he went as far as the West Indies, on a voyage that took him two years and a half. His presence at Cadiz was noted in July 1601, after which he returned to France."
Thanks. - 66.36.140.126 (talk) 22:57, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the info I missed but then why not fix it? -- Alexf(talk) 23:50, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
