Thanks for uploading Image:Cplmattwallace.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Non-free use disputed for Image:MattNov2004 3.jpg[edit]

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:MattNov2004 3.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted after seven days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:01, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Cplmattwallace.JPG)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Cplmattwallace.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:15, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

File:RaleyPortrait2.jpg[edit]

Hello. You've uploaded File:RaleyPortrait2.jpg, but there could well be a problem with the license. In the US, as with most (but not all) countries, you can't necessarily take a picture of a painting and call your picture free. This is to do with derivative works and freedom of panorama (an explanation of the rules for the USA here). If the portrait is an official one, that the Federal Govt paid for, then it is likely ok to photograph it and upload the photograph here, but otherwise your picture would be "non-free". Do you recall whereabout this picture was or anything else about it? Angus McLellan (Talk) 18:40, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A different problem, which also exists with File:J frank senator1.jpg. Even if it's an official portrait, it's most unlikely to be a work of the Federal Government. After all, he was a State Senator in Maryland, not a US Senator for Maryland. Official portraits by the Maryland state government are not necessarily in the public domain, unlike works of the US government. I'm afraid that the license tag is wrong. File source problem with File:J frank senator1.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:J frank senator1.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
