Ongoing dispute re contents of Female Sex Tourism

I have left the following message for Geniac - hopefully they will be able to look into this and suggest a sensible resolution. In the meantime, I would strongly encourage you not to make further changes to the article without adding a short note to the article's talk page. Many people would consider this to be prima facie evidence of bad faith and it certainly won't advance your argument when the person whose work you are deleting has taken the time to set out their side of the story. Just a tip.

The other side of the story to 'Sorry to bother you

Hi, I am the user currently in dispute with Mindys12345/AdamJWC regarding The Female Sex Tourism article. I think you have seen the justifications that I have set out on the article's talk page. Unfortunately an edit war has developed and this user has simply resorted to vandalism of page, by which I mean obstinate reversion of edits without any explanation on the talk page and what is really a misleading attempt to suggest that the links that I have added are spam. We are both going to come up against the three revert rule soon enough. I intend to develop the body of the article further but at this stage want to get a few more links to news accounts of the activities described in the article and then develop appropriately sourced material from there. I don't really want to be wasting time in an edit war. Is there anything you can do to mediate this or otherwise assist? Many thanks.

Response to my Talk page

In reply to:

DO NOT REMOVE OR ADD CONTENT TO MY USER PAGE. THANKYOU. AdamJWC 08:28, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

I am happy not to edit your user page, and I believe I may have done this once inadvertently when responding to comments that you left on my talk page - for which I apologise. As for your talk page - that's really the only place to reply. I'll do that as and when appropriate, i.e. if I need to respond to something that you leave on my talk page, and in the courteous tone that I have used thus far. In any event, it looks like this one is long overdue for some attention by an administrator. I believe (hope) that once the dispute regarding the Female Sex Tourism article has been resolved, there won't be any need for further exchanges.

Thanks.

Are you supporting complete nonsense?

See talk:United States-Armenian relations. The article is a complete nonsense. The author of the article thinks that Iraq and Iran are the same country, he also states that there were some relationship between Armenia and USA in 1978, while Armenia was part of the Soviet Union, etc.

Re:Spam

Could you provide diffs of edits of the IP that match each of the warnings you gave the IP? I couldn't see an edit by them on, for example, Kashmir. --Geniac 13:42, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Ok, I see those, but you warned the IP for spamming the Kashmir article, but I don't see an edit by that IP to the Kashmir article. --Geniac
Aah, I see now. Thank you for correcting that warning. Let me know if they do it again or if you see another IP address post the same URL to an article. --Geniac 14:07, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Archive

You should keep your talk page archive under your own login (like User talk:Mindys12345/Archive 1), not by moving the contents to another login's talk page (like User talk:Mindys1234) -- that doesn't seem to be an archive of your talk page at all; it just looks like a talk page of a user. If you want it protected from editing, that's fine, but solely moving a page won't help that. Another thing that would help make it obvious you don't want it edited is adding {{talkarchive}} to the top. --Geniac 14:27, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Okay I will do that instead. Thanks AdamJWC 14:30, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Are you the same person as User:AdamJ.W.C.?

You seem to be making a lot of edits to that user's userpage, just checking. Thanks, MrMacMan Talk 06:09, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

Ah, i should have checked that first. Silly mistake, sorry. MrMacMan Talk 06:18, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
Strange as it sounds I actually patrol the Special:Recentchanges, specifically under recent changes to users. I often find that userpage vandalism is much harder to spot and usually harder to find than article vandalism so I have to try and weed out changes by editors using different accounts and such. I saw a bunch of edits in relative succession on the page and here I am. Anyway, sorry bout' any confusion. MrMacMan Talk 06:25, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism

Thanks for letting me know. I didn't actually unblock him, rather, his 15 minute block had expired but Shanel already blocked him for 24 hours after his vandalism of my user page. Yonatan talk 03:28, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

You're picking on an un-logged in regular editor, please undo your reverts

Your several reverts to Dismissal of U.S. attorneys controversy in the last several minutes are interfering with a regular editor that forgot to log in. Please put back what you did before you make a mess of what he/she is up to. Check the logs for the IP. S/he's a regular, known as Bdushaw -- Yellowdesk 03:56, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

It looks like Bdushaw woke up and saw the work was being undone. It's moments like these that make me think that all users should be logged in and anonymous edits should not be permitted at all. It transfers the RC watchers into account watchers instead. -- Yellowdesk 04:03, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, I just saw that an IP address removed almost an entire page of work and assumed that the rest of that persons edits were vandalism as well. I will have a look at what I have done. AdamJWC 04:12, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. And thanks for doing a thankless task as an RC patroller. -- Yellowdesk 04:21, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
Thankless in that I wouldn't have any interest in Recent Changes patrolling IP changes, if that is what brought your attention. Though the moved section was ~6,00 bytes, the article weighs in at around 85K. .
For what it's worth, the article in question used to be gigantic, and in the last week we've split out several sections into sub-articles, and are now coping with editing the remainder, which means moving sections around. -- Yellowdesk 04:35, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Vandal warning on my talk page

Hi, I wasnt trying to vandalise that page, I merely tried to revert what seemed like pov. Could we talk about this on the talk page? --144.132.216.253 13:49, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

I've added this article and the talk pages of the IPs that seem to be re-adding the same information to my watchlist. I've changed to template you made back to a standard Infobox Beverage (I understand the reasoning, but there are better solutions to preventing vandalism) and did some minor copyediting in the text. Wikipedia:Protection policy#Semi-protection says "Temporary semi-protection may be used for... Preventing vandalism when blocking users individually is not a feasible option, such as a high rate of vandalism from a wide range of anonymous IP addresses." The term "wide range" seems to apply, but I don't think a few edits a day qualifies as "a high rate". Don't Panic; I'll keep an eye on it. --Geniac 13:13, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi, do you have anything to add to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Sydney#Sydney Explorer page before I prod Sydney Explorer?Garrie 21:50, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

What is needed, is a Tourism in New South Wales which can link Tourism in Sydney, with Tourism in the Hunter Valley, Tourism in the Riverina, Tourism in the Illawarra ....Garrie 08:21, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
On the travel brochure is there a copyright tag?
If you look here there is a brochure from Blacktown City Council about bike tracks.

The reference looks like:
<ref name = "Bike routes 2004"> [http://www.blacktown.nsw.gov.au/shadomx/apps/fms/fmsdownload.cfm?file_uuid=2BB6A799-E7FF-0ADF-9452-D485A85CB5C3&siteName=blacktown ''Bike Routes Around Blacktown City''], Blacktown City Council 2004. </ref>

The URL (and so the link between the [ and ] is optional. Even if I had just a paper copy of the same pamphlet I could make the same reference. If you provide a URL you need to provide an access date.

So your reference would look like
<ref> ''Name of the pamphlet'', Who published the pamplet, what year they published the pamphlet.</ref> if you are working off a piece of paper. Note, especially for Federal government things, I have seen ISBNs on pamphlets (but usually not state government).

For citing a web page, go look at template:cite web. The cite web template still goes between ref and /ref tags. You could also look at examples on my user page which all use cite web You can copy / past straight out of the pink boxes.

When using the "cite ..." templates, accessdate is in the form YYYY-MM-DD ie tomorrow will be 2007-06-07.

They won't show up untill you have template:footnotes somewhere on the page (usually in a References section!). Does that clear it up? Garrie 04:04, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks for reverting the vandalism on my userpage! --TeaDrinker 04:32, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

The Jessica-Jane Clement Page

Im not to sure if im doing this right and i apologise if its incorrect but the link on jessica-jane clements page going to jessicajaneclement.co.uk is authoised by her and her management and she has been asking us to add it here time and time again, everytime we add it, it keeps getting removed, im not sure why, there was a use posting a link to a similar site called jessica-janeclement.co.uk which we requested to have banned which i believe is now done.

Please bare in mind this is her official site and she wants it on the page.

Thank you
