Hi, thanks, I remember that episode - the one with her father. That's a pretty old one, it's not on TV very often...I couldn't find that particular piece of information on the Internet, and when it comes to TV here, anonymous people frequently add junk, so I was being a bit overzealous I suppose (my apologies if you were that anonymous person who added it in the first place!). Sarcelles[edit]

Hi Abstrakt, yes... I'm tempted to do the same thing too, but I don't really want to be accused of "removing information". -_- I've taken the issue up with other users too, such as at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Chinese cities, but so far nothing's been done. -- ran (talk) 21:49, Jun 23, 2005 (UTC)

I don't know what to do though... but I do know I hate having 100 articles on Chinese cities that are poorly written. What do you think should be done? -- ran (talk) 21:53, Jun 23, 2005 (UTC)

About Sarcelles:
  1. Yes, he's annoying.
  2. However, that's not to say that everything that he does is annoying. Qincheng Prison, for example, is actually pretty major.
  3. Wikipedia is getting pretty stubby, with a lot of people adding their own high schools, etc. As long as Sarcelles' pet creations are well contained and well maintained, I think they're mostly harmless.
  4. I think the main thing we need to watch out for are:
    1. Invasions of other article. E.g., Sarcelles starts Beijing, and 2/3 of it is about Qincheng Prison.
    2. Falsehoods and biases. Tewu comes to mind.
Thanks for watching out for him so much, btw; I will try to help you out as much as possible. -- ran (talk) 21:15, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Slang pages[edit]

Hey there. :) I noticed some of your recent successful AfD's and noted that you're about as big a fan of useless lists as I am. I was wondering, therefore, if you could give me your opinion of the following before I AfD them myself: Catholic street slang (discussion started on Talk:Catholic street slang), Canadian slang, Gay slang, Sexual slang (redir to List of sexual slang), and Body parts slang - all of these have lived less than 2 months. Two others that have been around longer but still seem wrong to me are Boston slang and Singapore gay terminology. Thanks in advance for your input (here, on my talk page, or the talk pages of the articles in question). --Kgf0 23:00, 7 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

re: Joe Namath[edit]

Hmm... looks like when I was trying to remove a spam link, I accidently also reverted your edit. [1] Sorry. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 01:08, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Xinjiang[edit]

Hi Abstrakt, yes you're absolutely right, cities and prefectures in Xinjiang should not be confounded together. The template should be corrected as well. -- ran (talk) 00:19, 25 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

FYI, I've edited the article on Khotan to differentiate them [2]. — Instantnood 18:11, 26 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hami / Hotan are the official spellings, Kumul / Khotan are the customary spellings. I don't have a list of official spellings right now... but I can get it after mid-January. Or you can look in any National Geographic map. -- ran (talk) 08:03, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Articles for Deletion[edit]

Hi. I have seen some of the articles you recently nominated for deletion. I appreciate you efforts in trying to keep some non-encyclopedic stuff out of wikipedia. However, there are some standards that are currently agreed upon (for example, every town deserves an article, apparently). I suggest taking a look at Wikipedia:Deletion_policy and especially Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Precedents. Not that I agree with everything that is in these pages, but going counter established precedents proves useless. - Liberatore(T) 20:34, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You didn't offend me at all! Nor I am alarmed for anything (I do not care much about the existence of an article on Biancavilla in Wikipedia, but it was evident to me that this artice was about to be kept). My apologize if I offended you with my suggestion, but that was just mean to be that - a suggestion. For the record, the articles for deletion that made me think you were not aware of AfD conventions were Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Favelas of Brazil (you didn't explain why this list is useless), Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lovari (musicians are usually nominated by stating that they do not meet WP:MUSIC), and said Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Biancavilla (articles on suburbs may be deleted, but articles on towns are never). - Liberatore(T) 19:02, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I believe some of your comments on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chinese prisons by Sarcelles such as "I'm baffled by the inability of some people to read!" and "... who in their right mind ..." are of the type which ought to be avoided. They are unnecessarily demeaning to other Wikipedia contributors, and tend to escalate conflicts rather than solve them. -- Dragonfiend 20:05, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to add your comments. -- ran (talk) 17:40, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request for edit summary[edit]

Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 12% for major edits and 26% for minor edits. (Based on the last 150 major and 150 minor edits outside the Wikipedia, User, Image, and all Talk namespaces.)

This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear inpolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 04:21, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Qiemo[edit]

Well, as far as I am concerned, the information was taken from the 1911 Britannica encyclopedia. Further research needs to be done on this to keep the information up to date. --Siva1979Talk to me 17:49, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for contacting me about the vandalism that has been going on in these two articles. I too think that Breathejustice, 67.38.247.32, and 192.35.79.70 are the same user. I only came across the Manchuria article by chance because I was doing some research about Russian and Northern Asian geography when I suddenly noticed all these bad grammatical errors and spellings. I looked upon the "history" and I noticed this one user had made mulitiple changes, and the way the article looked after he edited was just really awful and comical (in a embarrassing way) and doesn't make much sense. Anyway, I want to ask could you also keep an eye on this user and on these two pages he edited. Make sure the changes are referenced and this person doesn't do any severe Vandalism. Thanks a lot! --Godardesque 22:40, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sarcelles[edit]

Perhaps we should alert the people at Talk:Falun Gong? They're requesting mediation as we speak, perhaps Sarcelles' recent FLG-related contributions, especially the rather explosive Sujiatun allegations, can be included in their efforts. -- ran (talk) 19:13, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

IPA[edit]

Hello Abstract,

when inserting the IPA template, it makes sense to put whole words into brackets, not just single letters.

I also noticed that in the article on the Tai Nüa language, someone destroyed the Tai Nüa letters, but that was probably before your edits. —Babelfisch 08:47, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, no, the Tai Nüa is fine, I just don't have the right font installed.

Something else: I've just reverted your adding the IPA template to the article on Hami/K̢umul. The Uighur "new script" is not IPA. —Babelfisch 11:46, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Abstrakt, Good suggestion on Taiwanese aborigines. A brief section detailing where they live today in significant numbers is a good idea.

If you wanna jump in and edit/shorten/tighten/add new things, just do it. I am eager to find other people who want to make the Taiwanese aborigines page 'compelling, even brilliant' or whatever the Wikipedia standard for Featured Articles is. Tks! Ling.Nut 19:13, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rouruan[edit]

Hello, On 05:07, 24 April 2006 you added a table of Kaghans to the Rouruan article including Mi'oukeshegou Khan (彌偶可社句可汗) 郁久閭婆羅門 Yùjiǔlǘ Póluómén 521-524. Could you check his position on the list please? Also do you know if he is the ruler referred to in this quote from http://spotlightongames.com/variant/maharaja/eph.html

"522 Apex of Ephthalite power. Chief of the Juan-Juan nomads flees to the Ephthalites for protection. Ephthalites dominate north and south of the Tien Shan range. Control as far as Tieh-lo in the south, Ci`ih-le^ (Kao-ch`e^) in the north, at least to Khotan in the east probably more, and up to Persia in the west. A separate Ephthalite Empire controls much of India. Forty countries (including Sassanid Persia) are in tribute. Ephthalite centers are at Ghur, Balkh, Warwaliz (north of today's Kunduz near the source of the Oxus) and Hsi-mo-ta-lo. The entire empire probably comprises fifty to sixty thousand individuals. "

Many thanks. Kaz 00:18, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Manchuria & Jurchen related articles[edit]

Hi, just want to let you know that a certain user (I'm pretty sure its Breathejustice) has been vandalize articles related to Manchuria, Jurchen, and Jin Dynasty, 1115–1234 again. Apparently, he/she still can't write well. Please, help Wikipedia users keep a good eye on these pages, thanks. --Godardesque 20:10, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism on the Jin Dynasty article[edit]

Don't worry, I'm not accusing you. User:Breathejustice has forsaken his wikipedia account for the ip address 69.210.209.211. I've reverted his/her edits countless times and it is really starting to get on my nerves. Depsite his/her info being cited, I don’t feel it is correct. Heck, even a portion of his/her cited source is wrong! It mentions "The name of Qing dynasty founder was Hambo”. This is incorrect because Hung Taiji, 8th son and heir of Nurhaci founded the Qing in 1636.

S/he keeps on reverting the page on the grounds that his/her source is cited and that the history of the Jin founder should be covered. I agree on the last part, but since his/her info is not readily excepted by me, you, and just about everyone else, It should be put (on the Jurchen page!!!) under a the heading of “Possible Origin(s)”, or something like that.

I keep on trying to tell them that the Jin dynasty page is about the Empire and not the Jurchen people, but s/he won’t listen. I mean if I wanted to add a huge paragraph about the Chinese people on every Chinese dynasty page, I would get booted out of wikipedia for being a NUT!

I have sent vandalism warnings to User:Breathejustice’s page twice. If s/he does it again, I will give him a final warning and then I will put his/her name on the Vandalism page for possible blockage. Straw Poll[edit]

Since all attempts have been made to reach an agreement with User:Breathejustice (and his sock puppets) regarding his countless reverts and incorrect info, I've started a straw poll survey here. It will be used to determine whether the info should stay or be deleted. If, in a week or two, the problem is not resolved, I will be asking for mediation from administrators. This will eventually lead to arbitration! (!Mi luchador nombre es amoladora de la carne y traigo el dolor! 06:18, 8 September 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Tuoba Heru[edit]

As far as I can tell, translating a sourced article from another language wiki is just fine, but there still needs to be a sources section that indicates where the information came from. I have seen other articles handle the matter, but I forget now exactly how it was done. I'll try to go figure that out and add the proper line explaining that this is a translation. Erechtheus 18:52, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would suggest that the Ong Iok-tek article handles the matter the best way. Could you please provide the link to the article on the zh wiki? Erechtheus 19:06, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I actually figured it out for myself, I think -- I'd appreciate if you'd check the link I added to make sure it hits the right page. Erechtheus 00:28, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Taiwanese aborigines; barnstars[edit]

Hi,

Thanks for the offer of help on Taiwanese aborigines. Another editor, Maowang, is also interested in revamping the article.

I see you have a barnstar here on your talkpage. You might wanna copy it to your userpage, 'cause eventually the talk page will get so long that you'll have to archive it. Then the barnstar will no longer be readily visible.

I saw yours is the generic BoNM, rather than country-specific, so I'm thinking of making barnstars of national merit for China and the ROC. Or maybe not. I may work on articles. :-)

Anyhow, thanks! --Ling.Nut 16:32, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Abstrakt,

Maowang is a friend of mine. I didn't ask him specifically why he deleted your input, but his edit summary said that it was because your info was unverified by a secondary source. I wouldn't worry — you can leave a message on Maowang's talk page to discuss the issue, or leave a message on the article's talk page, or even email him. If you have a secondary source, it would be very good to note that.

I do appreciate your contributions to Taiwanese aborigines. Maowang wants to rewrite large portions of it, and certainly some portions of the article need re-writing. :-) I would really be gratified if you felt that you wanted to be a part of the relevant discussion. Of course you don't have to, but if you do, that would be cool.

The discussion to date has been entirely via email exchanges between Maowang and I, 'cause we weren't aware of anyone else who wanted to make major contributions. There are many ways you could join in, if you wish. But if you don't feel you wanna make an ongoing contribution at this time, you can still hash out the question of the "aborigines in China" with Maowang if you like. I am easy-going; I can go with whatever you and he decide.

Please do drop me a line if you have further questions or comments. Dialog is good. :-)

Later, --Ling.Nut 15:14, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OH PS, I just now looked at your recent edit. Technically it's correct, but I believe it's misleading in that it doesn't give the full picture... It's true that the official name of the Taiwanese aborigines as listed among the ethnic groups of China is Gaoshan. The aborigines were known as Gaoshan in Taiwan as well; in fact I believe the term still has some usage. I don't think it is considered to be the best possible choice of terms, tho. Maowang is actually in Taiwan now (I plan to return); he could give the scoop on what terms have currency these days.... Later --Ling.Nut 15:21, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Manchus[edit]

I saw that you have added a category called "Manchus" to a number of article where I added the category "Manchu statesmen." Why don't we make "Manchu statesmen" a subcategory of "Manchus"? That will make it more elegant and useable.--Niohe 03:51, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I took a look at the three articles and I noticed that they are very short. You may want to add more content and some sources, otherwise someone might nominate them for deletion Wikipedia:Notability.
I have made Category:Manchu statesmen a subcategory of Category:Manchus and I will delete the latter category wherever the former is already present. Hope that's OK.--Niohe 23:02, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

help wanted[edit]

I need your help. I am a new member of wikipeida. I find the article of "Tibet" or "history of tibet" in wikipeida is very biased towards pro-independent Tibetans. I have strong evidence to prove what I said. I made some edit and added some important facts. However, they are deleted. The problem is: I am not familiar with the rules of wikipeida and I probable won't have time to get familiar with it. So, I need your help so that truth can be known by people. You can find my deleted versions in the history of that topic. The main source of my information is in the following. It would be better if you can have a quick look of this website and add whatever information you want. I remember the content of this website is from Chinese government’s white paper on Tibet issue. If you go to the official website of Tibetan in exiles, you will find that although they are very unhappy with these information. They could not point out any major problems about these facts.

"The historical status of tibet", by China internet information center. It cab be found at the website of:

www.china.org.cn/ch-xizang/tibet/historical_status/english/index.html

www.china.org.cn/ch-xizang/tibet/indexE.html

This is probably the most complete and detailed information source on the Tibet issue.

Many thanks.

License tagging for Image:Manju-1.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Manju-1.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Hey, Abstakt. What was the point of undoing this edit?[9] I think the link is more appropriate if it had the name "Number of Muslims in China" instead of "Statistics" which most will pass off as the Statistics article.Editingman (talk) 21:34, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Abtrakt, it's me again. Sorry if my posts here are getting annoying:-) About the China article, I think that it is better if links are spelled out whenever appropriate and possible, or the readers might passed it by as something else. Right? Editingman (talk) 02:34, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Image:Sibe.png[edit]

A tag has been placed on Image:Sibe.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I8 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is available as a bit-for-bit identical copy on the Wikimedia Commons under the same name, or all references to the image on Wikipedia have been updated to point to the title used at Commons.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Sibe.png|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. 71.189.216.248 (talk) 01:52, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

chaquan[edit]

I have a small book on Muslim kung fu called Wushu Among Chinese Moslems (1984) that equates the Cha boxing style with Muslims. The books states "Zhaquan (Zha-style shadow boxing), which comes under the category of changquan (long-range shadow boxing) is of obscure origin, is said to have been created in the Ming Dynasty and handed down by a Zha family of the Hui nationality through the ages." (pp. 5-6) An article from Kung Fu Magazine mentions Zhamir (spelled "Chamir") as the creator of Tán Tuǐ. I believe Tan tui is taught in congruence with Zha boxing. --Ghostexorcist (talk) 21:03, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a note asking about the temple name for this man. As you appear to be the one who added the temple name, I would just like to ask a little more about this.

Saying that "His temple name was Jǐngzǔ (景祖)" seems to imply that this name was given to him by the Jurchens after his death. I'm sure that this is not beyond the bounds of possibility, given the Chinese influence on the Jurchen and Manchu state. But the greater possibility, given that 景祖 clearly refers to ancestry, is that it was bestowed well after the time of his death, possibly as part of the biographical and historical efforts of the Qing dynasty to make an imperial ancestor fit into the Chinese mould. If this is the case, it would seem important to give an indication of this. The man's biography reads more like an "official Chinese dynastic record" than that of a Jurchen notable. That is, it is a biography written by later people to fit in with their place in history rather than to describe the facts.

I was thinking that it may be more appropriate to write something like: "For the purposes of the imperial genealogy, he was later given the temple name Jǐngzǔ (景祖)".

Just wondering what thoughts you might have on this.

Image permission problem with Image:Karimova.jpg[edit]

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Karimova.jpg. I noticed that that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to [email protected], stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to [email protected].

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. However, nationalist koreans have once again added the section that Jin Dynasty rulers are from Korea. And this have been ongoing for some time now which will end up as an edit war sooner or later.

Reading from your contributions i trust that you are a resonsible and capable member of wikipedia. I would be greatful if prtection can be initiated on the Jin Dynasty page.

Hello[edit]

Hi, at the moment I'm trying to improve as many Chinese location articles as I can but I realized that there are still hundreds of China's counties that still don't even exist on Wikipedia yet. Currently I'm trying to complete the basic structure of Yunnan, adding geocoords/maps, filling out infobox data, creating navboxes, sorting categories and I noticed from the histories that you created many of these articles. I was wondering if you have the time and are willing to help out in anyway. I only know of one other guy User:Danaman5 who is trying to complete the creation of all of China's county-level divisions. It would be greatly appreciated. Regards.--40fifw0 (talk) 17:54, 11 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Norman not a first-hand source for Naxi phonemes[edit]

Hi Abstrakt,

Thanks for your answer to my query about your reference concerning your edit to the list of Naxi phonemes ("Naxi language" article). I have to point out that the reference you use, while very useful, is not based on first-hand data (at least not concerning Naxi), and that the data available at the time were less accurate than those now available.

My own phonemic analysis is based on over 6 years of fieldwork now, and on close collaboration with Naxi scholars: He Xueguang, He Jiren, He Limin... as well as with prominent specialists of Tibeto-Burman languages, such as Boyd Michailovsky and Martine Mazaudon, who have done fieldwork on Naxi.

Again, I don't want to be pushy and impose my own inventory against the will of other contributors. This is an open space for collaborative work. I just thought I'd point this out to you, because in my view the consonant inventory that you give is misleading in several respects: the glottal stop is not phonemic, nor are the palatal and alveolo-palatal orders, so all of these can be dispensed with.

Good luck for the continuation of your work, best

Alexis Michaud

Proposed deletion of Abdul'ahat Abdulrixit[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Abdul'ahat Abdulrixit, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Has been unsourced for 3 months, fails the sourcing requirement at WP:BLP

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. A tag has been placed on Bujantai requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Baindari requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.  Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 16:54, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It should be noted that recreating a deleted article when adequate material comes up is rarely a problem. On the other hand, there is a reason why Wikipedia doesn't want blank pages, even on a temporary basis. -- Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 01:11, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

Tashkurgan Tajik Autonomous County[edit]

Hello, you edited my correction in Tashkurgan Tajik Autonomous County. While I didn't know the Uyghur names for the villages and simply transliterated the names you'd given earlier, I did however know that the name of the town of Tashkurgan (Tashqurghan in modern Uyghur transliteration) should be written in Uyghur with a GH (غ) in the ending syllable, you corrected me and reverted the edit to TashqurQan.

I wonder what source did you use for that.

Also there's quite a discrepancy in writing the Uyghur name for Tashkurgan even in the Uyghur Wikipedia itself. The Uyghur article on Tashkurgan Tajik Autonomous County has the name written as تاشقۇرقان (TaskurQan) but the Uyghur article for Tashkurgan Town has تاشقۇرغان (TashurGHan) already. Google produces 4 960 results for the latter and only 1 430 for the former (with the overwhelming majority of them being links to Wikipedia-related pages). There is obviously a mistake in the Uyghur Wikipedia article on Tashkurgan Tajik Autonomous County and it must have sipped into many other Wikipedias too. Now my Uyghur is far from perfect and I am not going to correct the Uyghur Wikipedia, my English is a bit better and I feel the mistake should be corrected at least in the English Wikipedia article. --Zumrasha (talk) 07:40, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Help with Manchu script[edit]

Hi Abstrakt. I've long admired and appreciated your addition of Manchu script to articles pertaining to the Qing dynasty. And now... I have a little favor to ask you concerning that. I've been working on Shunzhi Emperor for a while, and recently had it promoted to "good article." As I'm preparing to nominate it for "featured article," I think the long vertical line for "ijishūn dasan" in the lede might be visually off-putting to some readers. It would be great if you could make a two-line image for "ijishūn dasan" like those you did for Qing central government agencies and various Manchu book titles. Do you think you could help me with that? Do this only if you have time, of course! I thank you for your great past work on everything about Inner Asians, and in advance for your help. Non-free rationale for File:Burhan Shahidi.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Burhan Shahidi.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. File source problem with File:Taksi.png[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Taksi.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. File permission problem with File:Nanai Children.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Nanai Children.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to [email protected], stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to [email protected].

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 17:07, 24 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of List of Dai of Alavi Bohra, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: List of Dai of Dawoodi Bohra. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot was mistaken and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 20:21, 23 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, List of Dai of Alavi Bohra[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, List of Dai of Alavi Bohra. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – List of Dai of Dawoodi Bohra. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at List of Dai of Dawoodi Bohra – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. NeemNarduni2 (talk) 00:04, 24 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:59, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

PS4 Models List[edit]

Hey Abstrakt! I noticed your work on the PlayStation 3 models page, and decided to start a PlayStation 4 models page similar to it. I've got a bunch of information on it already, but a lot of holes to fill and I've not formatted it past basic table due to lack of skill. If you ever find the time and have the heart, it'd be awesome if you could use some of your godly formatting powers on it to make it look pretty. Anyhow, awesome work on the PS3 page! Proposed deletion of Yuwen Qiubuqin[edit]

The article Yuwen Qiubuqin has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unreferenced for more than 10 years. Extensive search did not locate any sources (see Talk). No sources in other language Wikipedias. It's either a hoax or non-notable.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 09:42, 14 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
