May 2024[edit]

Hello, I'm Discospinster. I noticed that in this edit to Second Temple Judaism, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. ... discospinster talk 21:05, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the content in question due to the fact that the only way to arrive at such a description of Judaism proper is to discard the Hebrew Bible as authentic. While I am aware of the fact that many modern scholars support this thesis (a fact mentioned in the article in question), there are others who dispute it. This opinion is represented in the works of Hoffman (I would recommend the newest edition of his commentary to Leviticus by Enbal), Halevy, Cassuto, Avigdor Miller and Yehoshua Enbal. Seeing as there is a debate, I removed the paragraph so as not to misrepresent either side of the question. Abiyam (talk) 21:43, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
