Wikipedia and copyright[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello 91.237.86.212! Your additions to New Medium Helicopter have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. BilCat (talk) 02:32, 2 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Its small amount of text. 91.237.86.212 (talk) 02:37, 2 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You still cannot copy text like that verbatim. It has to be written in your own words. The exception for a small amount of text is only for direct quotes, which don't apply in these cases. BilCat (talk) 02:42, 2 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Like all Wikishit. Why you dont remove all Wikipedia? 91.237.86.212 (talk) 03:41, 2 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

If this is a shared IP address and you are an uninvolved editor with a registered account, you may continue to edit by logging in.
BilCat is correct above; many of your edits have been in violation of the copyright policy, and it wasn't a "small amount of text", it has been extensive copying on many articles over many months. (You were previously warned about this at User talk:91.237.86.201#Wikipedia and copyright. I have blocked your account due to these copyright issues. Please carefully read through the copyright policy, and you may find it helpful to review the Wiki Education module on plagiarism and copyright. DanCherek (talk) 03:24, 2 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Why you don’t remove all my edits in Wikishit? 91.237.86.212 (talk) 03:40, 2 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If they are all copyvios, they will have to be removed. If some aren't copyvios, and if they don't otherwise violate Wikipedia policies, they'll stay. BilCat (talk) 03:47, 2 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Why earlier they are ok? 91.237.86.212 (talk) 20:32, 3 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's not about being earlier. It's about whether or not you copied the text verbatim. Some one will eventually have to go through all your edits to be sure one way or the other. BilCat (talk) 05:26, 4 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

June 2023[edit]

Subject: Entering unverified information.

Hello User:91.237.86.212. You have recently made an edit in the Invincible-class submarine article, in which you have stipulated that TKMS would build a certain "Type 218IN" submarine for India, should the country approach the firm. That is incorrect, to be precise. While it is true that TKMS and the Indian public-managed shipbuilder Mazagon Docks Limited (MDL) have signed an MoU to build TKMS-designed submarines in India, the design offered by TKMS is yet to be revealed.

It is uncertain as to whether TKMS would choose to continue with its past offer of the Type 214 submarine, or make a new offer with the Type 218 submarine. Until then, do not jump to write information that it is yet to be publicly announced.

November 2023[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to S-80 Plus-class submarine, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. Thank you.
