Middle-earth edits

[edit]

Hi, and welcome - if you're new, or welcome back if that 2010 edit was you.

Either way, do please note that this is a global encyclopedia, not a Tolkien fan-club; the great majority of readers will never have heard of kingdoms like Arthedain. We should consider very carefully whether to mention such details which will simply go over the heads of our readers. The goal is to provide readable, intelligible, and interesting coverage for the general reader. If that means leaving out finickety detail, that may well be the right answer. If not, we should probably gloss the rare terms ("the minor northern kingdom ...") to give readers an idea of what is being talked about. Citing sources

[edit]

Hi, I notice you added a claim in Rohan (Middle-earth) without citing any source. I happen to know it's "true" but having just checked Shippey, don't see the claim directly substantiated there, so I've commented the claim out for now. You can un-comment the claim by providing the Reliable Source that you used. Wikipedia takes the adding of unsourced claims extremely seriously, as it affects the reliability of the encyclopedia; I am telling you this in a friendly way rather than issuing an immediate warning, as would be entirely proper, because I can see you intend to contribute seriously, but your side of that bargain is to cite your sources in full at the time you make any claim in an article. I do hope this is clear: it is essential (and not only in "Good Articles" which have already passed formal review). All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 08:33, 4 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm RedPanda25. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Gríma Wormtongue, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. RedPanda25 19:09, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
