Hyphens[edit]
I saw that you replaced several hyphens with dashes in Boeing 787 Dreamliner. I've reverted the changes as the original use of hyphens is correct. Boeing and most other modern aircraft manufacturers use hyphens in their aircraft model numbers. - ZLEA T\C 23:55, 11 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @ZLEA. Thank you for your notice — I now realise that hyphens are used officially by Boeing instead of en dashes. However, I must point out that as en dashes are more proper in this case, as they are used for indicating ranges, whereas hyphens are used for joining words or parts of words. 1P4S5e (talk) 00:08, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
- I'm afraid you're still wrong. Boeing model numbers are not number ranges, therefore a dash is not proper. For example, "787-10" uses a hyphen to conjoin the type number "787" with the variant number "10". Whether or not you consider this proper, it's Boeing's aircraft, and Boeing has decided to use hyphens in their model numbers. - ZLEA T\C 00:21, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
- @ZLEA Whilst I agree that Wikipedia should respect Boeing's choices, I still consider en dashes to be more proper. Nonetheless, I have already stated that we should leave the article as is, and any reasonable individual should leave it at that.
