Information icon If you want to edit Wikipedia, you need to be aware of the concept of verifiability. It is one of our core policies. Readers must be able to check that any of the information within Wikipedia articles is not just made up. This means all material must be attributable to reliable, published sources, and the best way to achieve that is by having statements supported by inline citations.
