Not the first out gay player in the four major league sports

[edit]

The first openly gay major league sports player was Glenn Burke, a member of the LA Dodgers in the 1970s. He was in an open relationship with Tommy Lasorda, Jr, and was traded to the Oakland Athletics because Coach Lasorda didn't approve. He didn't publicize it in the press, but he openly lived his life and romances with men.
