February 2014[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that you made a change to an article, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Materialscientist (talk) 23:20, 21 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Stop removing parentheses[edit]

Please stop removing parentheses from the authors given behind species. Those parentheses have a specific meaning in taxonomy. Thanks. -- Yzx (talk) 23:23, 21 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

April 2014[edit]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Antennarius may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s and 2 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, BracketBot (talk) 17:33, 11 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

May 2014[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Garrick's catshark. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Please seek to improve the article in question rather than removing templates. The copyright violation still exists. --Animalparty-- (talk) 22:16, 10 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Cut-and-paste[edit]

Please stop using cut-and-paste methods to change the names of articles. Instead of turning an article into a redirect and pasting the text from the article into the former redirect to achieve the renaming, you must create an account, and then use the "Move" tab to rename the article. Information icon Hello, I'm Waldhorn. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Cladoselache without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; I restored the removed content. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. July 2014[edit]

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia or make nonconstructive changes, as you did at Houndshark, you may be blocked from editing. Other users have found your edits to be disruptive and have also reverted some of your changes. In fact, there is no reason at all why you should be removing any of that information. If you don't stop your disruptive behavior, you will lose your editing privileges. 72.197.234.162 (talk) 23:04, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Use of Edit Summaries[edit]

While I'm glad that you have begun using edit summaries to explain your motives (which you should almost, always do), please refrain from deleting information elsewhere without providing a clear explanation and/or a reliable source that supports what you are adding/removing. Thank you. 72.197.234.162 (talk) 05:01, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please explain why you are constantly blanking and redirecting these pages[edit]

Please. Tutelary (talk) 21:42, 28 August 2014 (UTC) I redirect these pages because these sharks are no longer valid species.[reply]

Under what standard/new information is this the case? Tutelary (talk) 21:52, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Parentheses around the scientific authority[edit]

Please refer to the talk page for Planonasus (talk · contribs), in the section titled "Parentheses around the scientific authority". here is a link. Your efforts to improve articles is appreciated, but you have been continuing to remove the parentheses, which is harming, rather than improving, the articles. Please engage in discussion there, here, or somewhere else if you dispute what people are telling you or if you have questions or concerns. Please do it now, because if you continue making these changes, I or others are going to request a block of your editing privileges to prevent further harm. February 2015[edit]

Information icon Hi there! Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to Phyllopteryx does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! Peaceray (talk) 20:34, 26 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Image size in infoboxes[edit]

I see you are dedicating significant effort to re-sizing images in infoboxes. Please do not do that. There are defaults in place, both in general and user-selected, which should determine these image sizes. What looks good on your computer screen may be a garbled mess on someone else's when you force an image size to a particular pixel width. Please read WP:IMAGESIZE for the overall principles. See also Template:Taxobox#Images for discussion about specific use inside taxoboxes. Regards, Tarl.Neustaedter (talk) 03:21, 26 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

January 2016[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Leptoderma. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted or removed. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Repeated vandalism can result in the loss of editing privileges. Thank you.
You have been warned about your edits repeatedly before (here and in your Planonasus account). FishBase remains the main taxonomic resource for fishes (see WikiProject Fishes) and even when there are taxonomic updates, it remains the main citation for most of the list in almost all cases. For example, in Leptoderma, FishBase remains the citation for 5 species in the list. Only 1 species, Leptoderma ospesca, has another citation. Removing citations that form the basis for an article, even if only a part of it, is vandalism.
Separately, I have noticed that you consistently put in a space between sentences and citations. There should not be a space between these (see MOS:REFPUNC). In other words:

This is a sentence. <citations> – incorrect, space between sentence and citations
This is a sentence.<citation> – correct, no space between sentence and citation.

I have now corrected Leptoderma, leaving both citations that were used for the article, but removing the space. You have some good edits and I hope you continue with those, but your disregard for various rules, removal of citation (+information, in several cases) and occasional repeated reverts are highly problematic. Please do not continue with this or both your accounts may be blocked (as has happened before). 62.107.219.18 (talk) 22:47, 20 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
