Infoboxes of street articles

[edit]

Please stop addiong infoboxes which consist of essentially no information except the name of the street to street articles. Not every article is improved by an infobox, and the one's you're adding don't seem to be improving the articles you're adding them too. Thanks. Beyond My Ken (talk) 15:55, 8 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to remove these unnecessary infoboxes using rollback untilk you have the opportunity to discuss them properly. Beyond My Ken (talk) 16:01, 8 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
So... you are basically a brand new editor, so you probably aren't aware that infoboxes are a controversial issue on Wikipedia, and whether articles should or shouldn't have infoboxes is a matter for a consensus of editors to decide. I, myself, lean towards having infoboxes where they provide a synopsis of essential information for the reader distilled from medium to long articles, but the ones you added were basically content-free, and did not help the reader in any way. In any case, I don't think you really have a good handle on when infoboxes are useful, so I suggest that you not add them any more, and certainly not add them on a mass basis. If there is an article about which you're certain an infobox is needed, please start a discussion on the article talk page and get a consensus for doing so. Thanks. Beyond My Ken (talk) 16:16, 8 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I think infoboxes should indicate the kind of article. If it article about street or bridge or settlement or something else, the infobox should show it in its name. And most articles have infoboxes. Thant's the reason I did it. Валерий Шостак
Well, that's not the usual purpose of an infobox, since that information is almost always in the first sentence of the article, but if you want to make that argument, you need to make it on the talk page of the article in question and get a consensus for adding the infobox there. Please do not add an infobox which contains virtually no information without a consensus to do so. Thanks, Beyond My Ken (talk) 02:26, 9 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Boston, etc.

[edit]

The link Boston, Massachusetts is perfectly fine, there is no real reason to change it to Boston, Massachusetts. The smae thing goes for San Francisco and other major cities. I'll be reverting. Beyond My Ken (talk) 18:43, 11 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
