Very interesting history of Wikipedia. I never knew that we once had to wikilink LikeThis. I certainly hope that the next few years will bring as much improvement as the last four.

The WoW vandal totally took me by surprise. It made me realize that vandalism is a problem that is much worse than I originially thought. I also hope that no one looses sight of WP's originial purpose. There is a lot of extra projects going on but time will tell us which of these will stay and which will go. One criterion this essay should include for true old-timers, IMHO, is "Have you ever revisited an article you wrote in the early days of Wikipedia & found it essentially unchanged? Did this discovery disappoint you (e.g., 'Why hasn't someone bothered to add sources?') or please you (e.g., 'No one found fault with what I wrote, so I must have gotten it right')." -- llywrch (talk) 22:02, 23 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
