LGBT rights in South Asia
[edit]Nepal was the first top-level polity to support LGBT rights.
India does not have any openly homosexual politicians, but does have a number of transgenders in both major parties and among many regional parties. The far-right RSS has also vocally supported progressing LGBT rights. But none of the parties have as yet to give support towards gay marriage.
Sri Lanka has a number of LGBT politicians within its two major parties, though both parties remain fairly 'centrist' on progressing LGBT rights, unlike the far-left JVP which does not have any LGBT but has professed stronger support for LGBT rights.[1]
