Cricket Challenge is a new concept created by Adam Hollioake Ex Captain of the England Cricket Team. The event invites teams to enter an 8 a side knockout competition in support of Paradise Kids Children's Charity. The day is an annual event and has become part of the Gold Coast busy Events Calendar with teams traveling from all over Queensland and interstate. Year one was shown on Fox TV throughout Australia and the title was taken out by the headline sponsor Jupiters whose team included Michael Kasprowicz, Steve Johnson and Aaron Nye. Cricket Challenge features world class players and both years has been broadcast live by Hot Tomato radio station
Each year an invitational Superstars VIII is entered, notable invitees have been Andy Bichel, Warwick Capper, Tania Zaetta, Bree Amer, Casey Barnes, Adam Hollioake, Damien Martyn, Aaron Nye, Steve Johnson
The format is – 24 teams and 30-minute clashes, the top teams from each group then proceed to the Semi Finals. The trophy being presented by His Worship the Mayor, Ron Clarke MBE. The event has been held both years at Runaway Bay Cricket Club and entertainment has included hit band My Escapade.
Headline sponsors of this event include Jupiters Hotel and Casino in 2010 and KONE Elevators in 2011.
