Lisa Perrotti-Brown, MW is a wine critic based in Singapore. She is the Editor in Chief of The Wine Advocate and eRobertParker.com, the bimonthly wine publication and website founded by wine critic, Robert Parker, where she also serves as the Asian Wine Correspondent and reviews the wines of Australia and New Zealand.[1] [2] As one of the world’s leading experts on Asian wine markets, she frequently lectures on the subject at conferences around the world. [3]

Early life[edit]

Lisa was born and raised in rural Maine, USA. She attended Colby College and after graduating with a degree in English Literature in 1989, moved to London, England with designs on becoming a playwright.[4] Being a struggling playwright wasn't paying the bills, however and Perrotti-Brown took a job at a wine bar to supplement her income. Before long she found herself managing the place and the wine trade became Perrotti-Brown's new focus.[5]

Career[edit]

A growing passion for wine experiences enticed Lisa to pursue wine studies at London’s Wine and Spirit Education Trust where she went on to achieve her Diploma. She progressed to an on-trade sales position at one of London’s oldest wine merchants, Corney and Barrow, and subsequently worked in various sales and marketing roles in the London wine trade for a total of more than twelve years.[6]

In 2002, Lisa moved to Tokyo, Japan where she worked as a wine buyer for one of Japan’s top fine wine importers and as a part-time wine educator for Tokyo’s Academie du Vin. She toured Japan’s wine producing regions and became involved in various viticulture and winemaking projects to improve the quality of wines made from local grapes. From her base in Tokyo she travelled throughout Asia discovering the many cultures and opportunities for the unconventional enjoyment of wine.

In 20 Lisa relocated to Singapore and in September 2008, Lisa achieved her Master of Wine qualification.[7] In 20, Lisa began reviewing the wines of Australia and New Zealand for The Wine Advocate. As of December 2012, many changes were announced concerning the management and format of The Wine Advocate. [8] The role of [Editor-in-Chief] went from Parker to Perrotti-Brown. A second editorial office was opened in Singapore.[9]
