Biography[edit]

Michelé attended LaVarenne Culinary School in Paris and Burgundy and completed a year-long editorial and cooking program there. After remaining in Europe another two years, cooking on a boat, and at resorts, restaurants and embassies in France, Italy, Greece, London, and Budapest, she returned to Los Angeles. She escaped to another boat in Alaska as soon as possible, where she spent a season as a sous-chef among the whales.

Back in California, she continued to pursue a career as a professional cook, and worked for a while as an editor for a wine newsletter called "First Sip".

She now live in New York where she's involved in several projects. She's a freelance food writer with an emphasis on Food Art and writes chef interviews for the Wall Street Journal weekend food page. She's also been writing a diary of my 3 years as a travelling food obsessive which she wants to form into a novel.

She also work as a menu consultant, cooking instructor, and recipe developer/editor/tester. Last summer she was lucky enough to work with Laurent Tourondel on his next cookbook, co-authored with Michele Scicolone, due out sometime in the Autumn of 2007.

The adorable Harriett clutching that prize tomato to her bosom was painted by her dear friend, the very talented actor/painter/musician/filmmaker Christopher Collard. He also co-directed, shot and edited the espresso video, and edited the potato galette video. That video was shot by my other dear friend the very talented art photographer and filmmaker Phoebe Sudrow.
