Samantha "Sam" Puckett (Jennette McCurdy) is Carly's best friend and co-host of "iCarly". She frequently gets into trouble, bullies other kids at school, and shows blatant lack of regard for rules. She claims that she was born on a city bus, and has been arrested three times. Almost everyone in her family is either in prison or on parole. Sam often relies on Carly and Freddie to get her out of trouble (as seen in episodes such as iPilot and iOwe You). Sam can be selfish, lazy, obnoxious, and somewhat indifferent to others' feelings as well putting her own friends in mortal danger for her own amusement. In iFight Shelby Marx, Sam tries to "tough talk" to Shelby for Carly, however, she overdid it by insulting and infuriating Shelby which nearly got her best friend Carly killed by her. Then in iEnrage Gibby, while Carly sent Sam to persuade Gibby to form a peace treaty with Freddie, but instead encourage Gibby to beat up Freddie(presumably due to Sam's usual dislike of Freddie). However, she is capable of coming through for her friends when needed. In iTwins, it is revealed and shown that she has an identical twin sister named Melanie Puckett, who is Sam's polar opposite. In iWas a Pageant Girl, it is revealed that she used to compete in pageants, and was a very talented tap dancer as a little girl. It was also revealed that she hated her rival, Leanne Carter. She and Freddie have a rivalry, but seem to consider each other friends of some sort.
