Wellbeing Radio[edit]

Wellbeing Radio is a new pioneering internet radio station for mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing. Wellbeing Radio's mission is to inspire, educate, and inform through positive broadcasting, live to the UK, USA, and Canada. All content can be downloaded and streamed globally.

The radio broadcaster aims to support people on a journey to wellness through meditation, mindfulness, life coaching, nutrition, and positive conversations.

Background[edit]

Wellbeing Radio was founded by leading yoga and meditation teacher, Scott Hutchison-McDade[1] at noon on the 1st of January 2020[2].

Scott Hutchison-McDade[edit]

Scott Hutchison-McDade[3] is Wellbeing Radio's founder and Broadcasting Director. Scott is a leading[4] Zen Yoga teacher, with more than 20 years’ experience in the field and is the founder of Positive Change Yoga.[5]

Scott’s teaching style draws on his healthcare experience, as well as the spiritual side of Zen Yoga, whose Buddhist roots help students focus on the present moment and utilise the body’s energy systems to boost their physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.

Scott developed Scotland’s first sound therapy[6] combining silent disco technology and binaural beats, utilising meditation and crystal therapy in his practices, which are designed for people of all walks of life and belief systems.

Scott has been involved in various charity events, including A Walk for Positive Change Yoga which saw members of the community walk the Fife Coastal Path from Dysart to North Queensferry on 18 August 2019. Scott also hosted an all-night outdoor meditation[7] on the streets of London as part of the Buddhist Action Month, to support the Rough Waking project.[8]

Scott presents the Morning Meditation show on Wellbeing Radio.

Awards[edit]

On 11 May 2020, Wellbeing Radio won[12] Dragon’s Den star Theo Paphitis’s Small Business Sunday[13] competition on Twitter.

Entrepreneur Theo is passionate about helping small businesses and launched Small Business Sunday, or #SBS as it is known, in 2010. The competition is open from 5:00 and 7:30 pm on Sunday evenings when entrants have the opportunity to send a tweet to Theo promoting their business. Theo then personally reviews each entry and announces his six chosen winners at 8:00 pm the following Monday.

The award provides free marketing and promotional opportunities. The benefits of winning include a retweet from Theo to his audience of almost 500,00 followers. Winners also gain access to positive media publicity and an exclusive invitation to the annual Small Business Sunday event, which sees the winners come together for a day of networking and an opportunity to meet Theo himself.

The Wellbeing Radio App[edit]

Wellbeing Radio launched an App in February 2020. Users can access all of the shows, as well as exclusive competitions, videos, meditation, and founder Scott's Yoga Nidra sound journey, fused with binaural beats. Binaural beats are an emerging form of sound wave therapy, with reported benefits of improved sleep, reduced pain, a sense of deep connection and reduced anxiety[14].
