The Sangwa clan is also settled in Punjab and Sindh in Pakistan. The present name of Sangwa Gotra comes from Raja Sangram Singh (Sangu) who came to Charkhi Dadri area in Haryana from Ajmer in Rajasthan after a long war between old Kshatriya Jat Aryans and the newly formed Rajput Kingdoms of Rajasthan.

The Sangwa Jats ruled from Sarsu in Jangladesh region of Rajasthan from 8th to 10th century.Jangladesh corresponds with the princely state of Bikaner. The chronology of thirteen Sangwan rulers of Sarsu state is as under:

  • 1.Aadi Raja - Adu or Yadu Raja
  • 2.Yugadi Raja
  • 3.Brahmdutta Raja
  • 4.Atarsom Raja
  • 5.Nand Raja
  • 6.Mahanand Raja
  • 7.Aganikumar Raja
  • 8.Meer Raja
  • 9.Marich Raja
  • 10.Kashyap Raja
  • 11.Surya Raja
  • 12.Salibahan Raja
  • 13.Lahar- Lahari Raja

The last king of the above rulers Lahar or Lahari Raja came to Ajmer after a long fight with Rajputs in Marwar area. Thereafter, their title changed to Rana in Ajmer. There is one town "Lahar" in Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh. Surname Rana and Lahari are found in this part of Madhya Pradesh. The kingdom name was Lahadi in the name of Raja Lahari. The present name is village Lihdi near Ajmer. Sangwan Jats ruled here for 9 generations. Last king of this clan in Ajmer area was Sangram Singh or Sangu. He left the land Ajmer-Merwara and came to Dadri area in 1540-45 AD during the rule of Shersah Suri. Raja Sangram Singh was a brave king. He bought horses from Arab and Kabul.
