Chris Schauble is an African American news anchor and journalist. He currently co-anchors the weekday morning newscast at KTLA in Los Angeles.

Education[edit]

Schauble attended Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, graduating with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism.[1]

Career[edit]

Schauble's early career consisted of anchor and reporter responsibilities at WALA-TV in Mobile, Alabama, WSPA-TV in Spartanburg, South Carolina, WBMG in Birmingham, Alabama, and KCNC-TV in Denver, Colorado. [2] While at KCNC-TV, Schauble covered the Columbine High School massacre, earning the station a local area Emmy for Best Spot News. [2][1] A year later in 2000, Schauble himself was recognized as "TV Person of the Year" by the Colorado Association of Black Journalists. [2][1]

In June 2001, Schauble became a weekday co-anchor of Today in LA and a general assignment reporter for KNBC in Los Angeles. [2] He remained in that position until an on-air incident in July 2010 where he silently but visibly spoke a profane phrase in reaction to a news presentation error. [3] After the incident, Schauble was transferred to weekend evening newscasts[3], while keeping his weekday reporter roles. [4] In March 2011, KTLA announced that Schauble would join the station's morning news team, replacing Frank Buckley in the 5am and 6am broadcasts. [4]

Personal Life[edit]

Schauble lives in the Los Angeles area and is the father of two sets of twin girls.[2][1] He has twice competed in the Ironman Triathlon, qualifying once for the Ironman World Championship.[1] His service to the Los Angeles community includes helping orphans find adoptive famililes. Schauble himself is an adoptee.[1]
