Vince was born in Chicago, Illinois. He got his first taste of karate at age 5. He later received instruction from the Japan Karate Association (JKA) and currently Challenge Karate Club at Purdue University.

Although detractors accuse karate as being a distraction from academic accomplishments, Chung has graduated from Adlai E. Stevenson High School and is now attending Purdue University. He is working towards a degree in Economics and Finance.
