Behind the Door (Atrás da Porta in the original title) is a 2018 Brazilian independent thriller feature film directed by Victor Poncioni, starring Victor Edwards, Izabelle Neiva e Filipe Braulin. The movie follows the story of four youngsters who decide to rob a family's home with nefarious intents, only to see their plan crumble within their hands.

Synopsis[edit]

In a peaceful night, a dysfunctional family's routine is ruined when four felons break in and make hostages. The tension only rises up due to impulsive actions, revealed secrets and big turnabouts.

Cast[edit]

  • Victor Edwards as Pedro, a young man with high ambitions who planned the whole robbery and mysteriously knows the house. He's the troubled brother of Lucas.
  • Izabelle Neiva as Giovana, the spoiled child of Douglas and Leila.
  • Filipe Braulin as Lucas, the older brother of Pedro who sees himself as "protector" of his brother.
  • João Pedro Ricken as Tomás, one of Lucas' best friends who comes along in their robbery because of his greatness in organization and for the money.
  • Uriel Martínez as Douglas, a ruthless businessman who treats everyone as his inferior, including his wife Leila, but spoils his daughter too much.
  • Cléo Diaz as Leila, the depressed and drunk wife, unhappy with the way life, and his family, has treated her.
  • Tauã Franco as João, the nerdy tech-guy who's invited to the robbery by Lucas.

Production[edit]

The production of Atrás da Porta started in January 2016, when director Victor Poncioni set with a friend in a coffee shop in Brasília, Brazil to decide the best approach for a feature film he wanted to make with his newly-reformed production company Red Blur Films. The script, written by Poncioni and Louise Paixão after a draft by Paixão, was finished by the beginning of June, with the final scenes being finished mid-July. The castings ended in in June 2.

Shootings started in July 20 and were finished in August 7, when post-production immediately started. The director Victor Poncioni served as the movie's editor and colorist. Re-recordings were done in November. The director went through 2017 in the post-production recording the soundtrack with Arturo Sampaio and mixing and mastering the audio with Daniel Souza and César Werlon. The original score of the movie was done using low-frequency to achieve a proper thrilling feel to the movie since the director wanted the audience to feel sick by the characters choices and actions.
