Hello. Thanks for trying to improve (FIXME - Article link). However your edit was not as useful as you may have thought and has been reverted. Wikipedia is an international collaboration so has to have a policy regarding national variations in spelling. You can find this policy in MOS:ENGVAR. In a nutshell, the policy is that an article may follow any one national style but should do so consistently and the style should not be changed. ... (FIXME - select):

  • There are exceptions but (in my opinion) they don't apply to this article.
  • This article has close ties to (FIXME - Country), which has its own national variation, (FIXME - Variation link) so its spellings should be used.

... (FIXME - something about the specific problem.)

I hope this doesn't dissuade you from trying to improve articles in the future.

Australian brushturkey (undue weight and selfcite)

[edit]

Hello. I recently undid this edit to Australian brushturkey. My main reasons for doing this were:

  • The referenced article actually says: "We do not have a definitive answer to the question ‘Is the Canberra region ... within the historic range of the Australian Brush-turkey’."
  • Whether Canberra is or is not within the brush-turkey's historic range is a very niche question. It might belong within a larger discussion of it's historic range which is currently absent from the brush-turkey article. It certainly does not belong in the article's lead.

I also note that you appear to be the author of the referenced CBN article. Referencing your own articles is allowed (see WP:SELFCITE) but extra care is needed. In this case it seems to me that your personal interest in this point has led you to give it too much weight.

If you think I'm wrong and that this point should stand, please consider working it into the Habitat section rather than simply re-reverting. Also, check that the link isn't broken (it was for me).
