Sturt Sabres Basketball Club is a district basketball club based in the inner-southern suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia. The club caters for teams from Under 10 boys and girls through to
History
[edit]Sturt Sabres Basketball Club was established in 1960 in a church competition at Forestville Stadium. Sturt players John Heard and Malcolm Heard were selected for the Australian Basketball team for the Rome Olympics.[1]
In December 1998, the club's home stadium at Sturt Street, Colonel Light Gardens, burned down along with much of its historical documents and memorabilia.
Sturt's top men's and women's teams play in the Australian Basketball League (ABL) Central Conference.
