Axolotl (short story)
"Axolotl" is a magical realism short story written by Julio Cortázar. It was published in 1956 as a part of his story collection entitled ''Final del juego'' (End of the Game).
Synopsis
[edit]The story opens up with an unnamed first-person narrator reflecting on the time he spent in the Jardin des Plantes in Paris, visiting and thinking about axolotls (a type of salamander native to South America that is on the endangered species list).[1]
