Ok...

I love certain things in life... family aside, the main passions are, K, Cycling (esp road racing), History (esp WW1) and Manchester.

I was an exhibitioner in History at St Catharine's College, Cambridge... and gained my MA there. I have a PhD in History from Manchester: my focus was social darwinism in the first two decades of Twentieth Century Britain.

I am an active member of Mossley Cycle Racing Team... as well as a coach and the webmaster of their website. Cycling history is an interest, that, when time allows will be a passion. I enjoy finding nuggets, such as the time trial courses in the South East of England having provided excellent cover for the routes of vehicles going to the D-Day landings (with their fancy and illogical course names).

I have lived in Manchester all my life... apart from uni years: as a real Mancunian it isn't surprising that I have a passion for Manchester City FC (and used to be an regular contributor to the excellent fanzine, King of the Kippax).

Teaching wise, I have taught at Ss Peter and John Primary School, Salford; St Aidan's Primary School, Manchester and Great Moor Junior School, Stockport. After working as an Advisor for ICT I now lecture in Computing at Loreto College, Manchester.
