Point #1 (styled as point #1 or POINT #1) is the lead single from American rock band Chevelle's debut album of the same name. Not much is known about this single, as very little copies were sold.

History

[edit]

Point #1 originally started as Open on The Basement Tapes in 1996[1], it was combined with Open and was 6:53 long. Sometime in-between this demo and the Point #1 (album) advance CD in 1999, the later 4 minutes and 52 seconds was removed from the song, those 4:52 of the song would become Point #1[2]. The song had also become shorter, now being 4:39 on its own, and 6:20 with Open.

Point #1 became a single for promotional use only in 2000, a music video for Point #1 was also aired on MTV during 2000[3]. Point #1 won GMA's Hard Music Award in 2001[4], with Mia winning the year prior.

Open/Point #1 would appear on the Best Buy version of Chevelle's compilation album "Stray Arrows: A Collection Of Favorites" in 2012.
