From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dave Patten is a singer/songwriter from Philadelphia, PA. In 2006, Dave took the leap to invest in himself and his career. Patten began playing music in high school, and even before graduating, he released his first album. Everything you hear on the singer/songwriter’s self-produced albums – acoustic and electric guitars, piano, drums, bass, synthesized horns and string parts – is Dave. Five years later, he has six. His most recent album, “Exposure,” was released in December 2010. Patten began his college career at Penn State University but then but realized it was not the right setting for him or his music. Shortly after, he returned to Temple University in Philadelphia where he jumped into the music scene and began working with local musicians, such as hip hop artist Meek Mill.

Personal Life[edit]

Dave hails from Havertown, Pennsylvania, a suburb about eight miles west of Philadelphia, where he grew up around music and played drums in local bands.

'Musical Career[edit]

"Dave Patten Films" have broken into the Philadelphia film scene over the past year as director Dave Patten and his filmmaking team excelled, bringing music videos to the streets of Philly for the city’s hottest rappers such as Meek Mill, Young Chris and Gillie da Kid. Patten started his production company South9 Entertainment in 2009, and has since expanded and transformed the corporation with his producing partner David Ricks into Philly’s premier music video production house. Patten’s award-winning cinematography recently landed the company a sponsorship deal with CHAUVET Lighting, and his music video portfolio has him lined up to work with rappers T.I. and Rick Ross

Patten created his clout independently by filming music videos for his own music – for which he has a licensing deal with the MTV Network as well as two of his music videos already in rotation on their channels. Both videos ("Echo" and "So Much") hit #1 on MTVmusic.com’s Top 100 charts the weeks they debuted, grabbing the attention of the network’s producers and allowing Patten to secure a valuable relationship.

Dave was also an opening act for Columbia Records artist, Wyclef Jean, while he was on tour at the Showboat House of Blues in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Dave garnered this opportunity after Wyclef heard Daves' adaption of his song "Sweetest Girl" and loved what he did with it.

Early Life[edit]

Dave started playing cello in the third grade and quickly moved onto drums, piano, and guitar, all self taught. He formed a band in high school called "SteppingStone" and they played gigs for 4 years. In 2006, he went solo.
