Dr. Demetrios A. Zamboglou, (Greek: Δημήτριος Ζάμπογλου[1]), is the chief operating officer of CFI Financial Group.[2] In 2016, he became the European CEO and Global Business Development Manager for Swiss company Lykke (a provider of blockchain and financial products) with the goal of creating the world's first swiss crypto-marketplace based on blockchain technology.[3] Zamboglou is the recipient of more than a dozen international scholarships and awards offered by various bodies such as the University of Cyprus;[4] He was awarded a Microsoft Research Grant in 2016,[5] Amazon Web Services Award in 2014,[6] and made it into the Top 30 Under 30 Awards from Square Mail magazine in 2011.[6] He is a fellow member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments[7].[8]

Zamboglou is an expert in both blockchain and fintech, having been listed in September 2018 as a Blockpass Advisor.[9] He is also a writer for both Medium[10] and DataDriven Investor.[11] He is the first Cypriot to join the Young Leaders Circle at the Milken Institute.[12] His name was established in the GCC list of successful youth under the age of 40 for the year 2021[13] who make the world a better place and who are distinguished by their talents and innovations in their field, and among the future leaders in the Arab Gulf countries.[14][15][16] Zamboglou is also Professor of Practice at Rome Business School.[17]

Zamboglou was born in Limassol, Cyprus.[18]

Education

After completing his military service, Zamboglou moved to Lancaster, England, joining Lancaster University (2001 - 2005), where he obtained his engineering degree. Later he joined City, University of London, in London, and got his master's in shipping, commerce and finance from Cass College (2005 - 2006).[19] In July 2018, Zamboglou successfully completed his PhD from King’s College London (2010-2016), in the British capital, where he successfully defended his thesis titled: “HETEROGENEITY AND SKILL IN THE RETAIL EUR/USD FX MARKET: INVESTIGATING THE IMPACT OF UNCERTAINTY AND BEHAVIOURAL BIASES ON TRADER SKILLS”.[20] In 2018, he joined the University of Cambridge Advanced Leadership Program.[21] Later he joined the MSc Political Marketing and Communication programs[22] at Rome Business School (2020-2021).

Career

In March 2008, Demetrius was recruited by Alpari Group, a UK headquartered company, to be part of their trading desk.[23] Two years later, Demetrios got accepted to King’s College London for his PhD, he was shortly promoted as a Risk Manager and a Project Coordinator, ranking as a Vice Present of Risk Management. Demetrios pioneered one of the first truly automated trading desks, transforming Alpari into a fully automated company.[24] This achievement won him the 30 Under 30 award in Technology by the Square Mile Magazine in 2011.[24]

Demetrios's was headhunted by FOREX CLUB (now Libertex) to be their global Hedge and Quant, the Head responsible for managing market risk. After successfully creating one of the best dealing desks in the world and winning the World Finance awards,[25][26] through partnerships such as OneZero[27] and First Derivatives,[citation needed] Demetrios was promoted to Chief Risk Officer of Forex Club and became a management team member, responsible for market risk, operational risk, financial risk and regulatory risk.[28] After leaving FOREX CLUB, Demetrios assembled a talented team to launch their own broker; zebraFX.[29] Once done with zebrafx, and due to his strong relationships with the Alpari Group owner Andrey Dashin the owner of ForexTime, Demetrios was chosen to activate the UK licenses for ForexTime given his experience in risk and compliance to prove that Alpari Group had control over the right processes and the regulatory systems and controls.[30] Demetrios was appointed the general manager of ForexTime UK[31] and was authorised by Financial commission FCA on 19 May 2016.[32]

Demetrios won the competition of Lykke POC (proof of concept) to establish world’s first Crypto-Marketplace, and was recruited as a top manager to groups Chief Business Development Officer.[33] Later he ecame Director of Lykke UK, the CEO of Lykke EMI (Electronic Money Institution), Lykke Cyprus[34] (Cyprus Investment Firm) and Lykke Services (administration Company), and the authorised representative of Lykke Vanuatu,[35] a Dealer in Securities.
