Horsebere brook is one of the areas in Gloucester where the 2007 floods started, as the floods spilled out of the brook and flooded Longlevens. Many houses were flooded as the water rose to waist height. In recent years there has been work on the area to reduce the chance of flooding such as building flood storage area, they have no become home to many species of plants and wildlife. Over the years there has been conservation work on the area in and around it.
