Camp Camp is an American animated comedy web series created by Jordan Cwierz and Miles Luna. The show focuses on a young boy named Max who is forced to go to summer camp but makes two friends there who help him constantly torment their camp counselor, David.

Development
[edit]On April 1, 2016, Rooster Teeth announced Camp Camp with a teaser trailer that released on their website and YouTube. The series premiered on June 10, 2016, as part of Rooster Teeth's Summer of Animation promotion.[1] The series focuses on a young boy named Max who is forced to go to summer camp but makes two friends there who help him constantly torment their camp counselor, David. The show was created by Jordan Cwierz and Miles Luna and is inspired by experiences Miles Luna had as a camper.[citation needed] Camp Camp's composer is Benjamin Zecker, with Miles Luna writing the outlines for "The Camp Camp Theme Song Song" and "Better Than You."[2] In January 2017, it was announced that Camp Camp would be getting a second season with a premiere in June.[3][4][5]
The show is animated using Toon Boom.[6]
Release
[edit]During Camp Camp's first season, Rooster Teeth released episodes weekly on Friday to their premium FIRST subscribers, and would release to Rooster Teeth website members a day later on Saturday. A public release on YouTube on Rooster Teeth's website would follow the next Friday. For the second season, the release schedule remained unchanged, except for the omission of Saturday releases to Rooster Teeth website members. In May 2017, VRV announced that they would be airing the second season simultaneously.[7]
Reception
[edit]David Kaldor of Bubble Blabber praised the series' visuals stating that "it’s a look that really works" and remarked the series' parallels to South Park, but was critical of the simplistic writing and summed the series as having "some clear good intentions here, but they aren’t showing up nearly enough to make much of this seem worth caring about."[8] Positive audience response had prompted Rooster Teeth to order two more episodes for the first season for a total of 12 episodes.[9]
The show has been criticized for some of its content appearing with some anti-semitic overtones, particularly the "Cult Camp" episode and the basis of Dolph's character based off of Adolf Hitler. Responding to a concern expressed on Reddit, the Camp Camp production staff reasoned that they "try to take these thoughts into consideration whenever we approach any piece of content," but ultimately would "rather acknowledge the darker parts of the world than ignore them and let them fester."[10]
