Subhrajit Mitra started his career at the age of 18 as a documentary director for Doordarshan. He is now 30 years old but already has an experience of 12 years. At the same time he has completed his post graduate diploma in Computer science and engineering and a part time two years diploma course in Film-direction from National Institute of Film and Fine Arts. Till date he has directed six documentaries for Doordarshan; the national channel, a fifty-two episodes of a documentary-series on National network with joint production by ISRO [ Indian space research organization ], and two corporate documentaries for BM Birla heart research center. Subhrajit has researched, scripted and Directed “WANGALA” – a documentary film on GARO tribes in the North east of the Himalayan foothill range, it was premiered with very much appreciation in ‘Document 2 film Festival’ (September 2004) in GLASGOW, Scotland, U.K. and Awarded as ‘Special Mention’ film in the ‘Golden Gate Fiction & Documentary Film Festival’ (December 2004) in San Francisco, USA and as ‘Integral Realization’ in the ‘Honolulu International Film Festival’. Presently Subhrajit is making a path breaking docu-feature series on Jesus Christ’s alleged life in India after his proclaimed resurrection, titled “The unknown stories of the Messiah”. Internationally acclaimed actors such as Soumitra Chatterjee and Aparna Sen are anchoring the series for him. The pilot project has been nominated as the best international documentary feature in Rome international film festival 2006. Apart from this he has scripted and directed nine telefilms for various channels. Subhrajit has made quite a few commercials for some national brands and worked as the show-director for big TV events. Subhrajit is working on a script for his first feature film.
