Stephen J Haller:[edit]

Stephen J Haller is an Australian businessman, speaker, author, world traveler, and business turnaround specialist. Growing up in small business, his parents promoted Stephen to get a trade when leaving school, it is with this practical background that he started his professional career in sales before moving into management. Stephen has a philosophy of building and people and profit, with this core value in place Stephen has turned around more than nine businesses in the twenty years stemming from 1999 to 2019, adding greater than sixty million dollars to the bottom lines of those businesses.

The Early Years:[edit]

Stephen left school and immediately commenced a Boilermaking apprenticeship at BHP Newcastle Steelworks. After completing his apprenticeship, he worked for various firms in Newcastle and the Hunter Valley turning his hand to constructing mining truck bodies and ships for the busy local harbor. In 1986, Stephen joined the team of Commonwealth Industrial Gases (CIG), where he commenced is sales and management career proper.

A Pragmatic Approach to Leadership:[edit]

Stephen’s first managerial role was for a business that was spiraling out control, each month losing more money than the month before. In the first six months, he was able to halt the losses turning that business around in less than 18 months. Since then, he has completed the same process another eight times in business with turnover ranging for three to three hundred million dollars and staff of eight people to three hundred heads.

Mentors and Influencers:[edit]

Having struggled at school and in early life, in his early twenties Stephen discovered the power of mentors. Initially being influenced by Tom Peters, Stephen studied under some the greats of the era, including Tom Hopkins, Zig Ziglar, Brian Tracey, Deepak Chopra, Jim Rohn, Les Brown, Stephen R. Covey, Ram Charan, Larry Bossidy, John Maxwell, Tony Robbins, Bob Proctor more recently being influenced by the significant body of work by Dr John Demartini.

Formal Education:[edit]

Stephen initially studied at Newcastle TAFE in the areas of Metal Fabrication before moving to management and marketing then moved his formal studies to the University of New England in Armidale where he completed three masters degrees in Management, Finance and Human Resources.

Publications:[edit]

In 1996, Stephen partnered with Brett R. Harrington to write and publish “The Australian beer and beverage handbook: a guide for the professional within the hospitality industry” at the time it was the first text for the hospitality industry in Australia to be endorsed by all the major breweries. Stephen has also published several short articles on sales, sales management and leadership as well as a number of training courses aimed at increasing effective communication, goal setting and leadership.

Personal Life:[edit]

In September 1985, Stephen J Haller married Leanne Maree in Newcastle, Australia. The two share three children together with Kristy-Lee born 1989, Melissa in 1991 and Tegan in 1992. For the three years between 1997 and 2000 Haller resided in Melbourne before relocated to Sydney in 2001.
