Cwmcelyn[edit]

Formerly a feeder pond, Cwmcelyn Pond has now been transformed into a recreational lake for fishing.

Cwmcelyn or Cwm Celyn, is a small community situated within the eastern South Wales Valleys. A suburb of Blaina, Cwmcelyn comes under the unitary authority of Blaenau Gwent and lies within the ancient parish of Aberystruth and the historic county of Monmouthshire.

Education[edit]

Ystruth Primary provides education to children in the 3 - 11 age group and also houses a Special Needs Resource Base[1]. Secondary education is available at Ebbw Fawr and Brynmawr. Ebbw Vale's Blaenau Gwent Learning Zone is the primary provider of Further Education.

Sport, leisure and tourism[edit]

Lying on the Ebbw Fach trail[2], Cwmcelyn Pond and Woodlands are a designated nature reserve and has benefited from considerable regeneration. The area is now able to offer walks, a picnic area, an outdoor 'open' classroom and licensed fishing at Cwmcelyn Pond[3].
